Reef

Glita peeked through waving bushes to the mysterious colder side. An unending blue that leveled darker to where she couldn’t see, where shades flew in the yonder appearing and disappearing too fast for her eyes to follow. She wriggled nervously. A cold stream from below brushed her face, causing her to dart backwards and bump into a larger body. Panic squeezed the air from her blood.

“What are you doing here?” Kestro asked. Annoyed or laughing at her fright, Glita wasn’t sure.

“You shouldn’t be away from the group.” Grey-green and bossy, Kestro, her girlfriend, was the largest female in their colony, and she used her size to ensure no one strayed far.

“I was looking for you.” Glita pitched herself up to face her. Their lips almost touched.

“Oh, yeah? What for?” Kestro moved just a bit sideways in case Glita nipped her. Her girlfriend was small but she moved like the snap of teeth, not to mention she had a peculiar glint in her eye.

“Haven’t you heard? Rafe is missing!” Glita whizzed around madly, her petite orange body wriggling with excitement. She had come looking for Kestro as soon as she heard. Rafe was the head male in the group, the one who kept them all safe. If he was gone, they all might be in danger.

Kestro slowly led her fluttering girlfriend back to the warm centre of their reef. Here, closer to the light, with food and shelter abundant around them, she felt better. “Aw, you know Rafe, he’s probably playing with the guys.” It was how they did things. Rafe had his guy friends and the bushes, and Kestro had her girls, or one girl, and the nooks in the rock shelves.

Still, to satisfy Glita, Kestro did a quick 360 above and below; spotting Mabel, Marie, Tello and the boys, that saucy wench Cynder who just winked at her, the Salvani twins swaying delectably in synch by the red tree, a fleet of golden skinned young ladies led by the Dame who was teaching them to explore the surrounds, but no sign of Rafe.

An odd smell tickled her nose, no doubt caused by some dirt that had been disturbed, but every one else seemed accounted for. She stroked Glita’s small body to reassure her. “It’s okay.”

Glita sidled up and nuzzled Kestro’s jaw. “I’m glad you’re here, Kestro,” she said in a hushed tone. “I’m scared. They said … they said … a big storm chased Rafe and sucked him away. But Rafe was the strongest in the group!” Glita started quivering again. “What if it comes after me?”

Kestro nibbled Glita’s lips to calm and distract her, while maneuvering her closer to their cave. “I’ll protect you, sweetheart. Stay close and nothing will happen.”

“Promise?”

“On all that I am.”

**************************

Kestro rubbed a little of her body gel on Glita, hoping to get her aroused and interested in making out, but Glita jerked away.

“What is it with you?” Glita asked, irritated. “Can’t a girl get some rest?”

“I need I need … honey, I just need some relief. Something’s happening to me. I can’t seem to stop needing to come.” Kestro undulated her lower belly closer to Glita’s opening. “Please.”

“Just stop it. You’ve been insatiable lately and frankly, I’m worn out.” Glita moved to the other side of the cavern and turned her face away. “Let me sleep.”

Unhappy and urged by the unrelenting demands of her hormones, Kestro shot out in search of something or someone to take her mind off. She had never had such an overpowering compulsion to shoot her load. Glita’s mini curves and slim tail was usually enough but even those, and that special stone formation in the cave, were not enough lately. Glita was right. She was becoming as bad as Rafe when the tide ebbed still. The Dark Goddess would be arriving soon, she could feel it in her blood.

Kestro headed around the bend and in and under stacks of smooth rocks. She checked in every corner of the reef, making sure the whole band was accounted for and that everyone was asleep. Then, she hiked up to where it was lighter to breathe, working off the excess energy that seemed to be roiling in her organs. Up there, she could see sparkles in the yonder, but it might have been the pressure affecting her head.

Kestro stayed up there, mesmerized by the lights and swaying to a bit of light headedness. The straining need in her body slowly melted away as she slowly sank to a normal depth.

“Nice night. You come here often?” Cynder asked in hushed voice. Noises carried far in the night.

Kestro smiled. “Hi, Cynder. Why aren’t you asleep? It’s cold out here.” Kestro thought Cynder looked deliciously alluring in the wavy spectrum of the stars. She was one of the mature beauties in the reef, black with blue tinges in her colouring, and a lush sexy body carried by a billowing fan-tail in five parts. She usually kept company with Rafe.

Cynder had seen Kestro’s restless prowling. She followed her up when Kestro stopped to stare at the moon. She had been watching her for days and knew the change was happening.

“I should ask you the same thing,” she said.

“I wasn’t sleepy. Too much on my mind, I guess.” Kestro said, a little sheepish. She didn’t know why but Cynder’s steady gaze and plump curves were bringing back the edge she had tried to ignore. She fought hard not to stare, unaware that Cynder had gracefully moved closer.

Smiling, Cynder whispered, “On a night like this, it’s hard not to give in to the lust in your blood.”

Startled, Kestro paddled backwards. “What do you mean? How did you know?”

Cynder slinked her body around Kestro. “The change is happening. It’s natural.” She brushed up Kestro’s right side, and rubbed herself down the other. “Let it out.”

Kestro’s eyes almost rolled in ecstasy. The exquisite feel of Cynder’s slickness bumping into all her right places was making her hard. Her breathing quickened and her fins waved in circles.

“What … what change?” Kestro’s voice deepened. She was almost to the point where she didn’t care.

“You’re becoming who you’ve always wanted to be, Kestro. The head of the group, the one in charge. The one who’s going to give us babies.” At that, Cynder nipped Kestro’s jaw.

Kestro rounded on her, eyes blazing, and pushed her to the darker side of the reef. “Yes. Yes. Yes.” In a few moments, after some minor turbulence, Kestro gave in to the quickness in his loins and spurted come for the first time.

**************************

A few weeks later, Kestro, now larger and sporting a coat of many bright colours, was leading play time by chasing some smaller males, when a loud rumble washed through the reef. The water churned and turned as a green thing swept through, cutting frighteningly quickly towards him. Helter skelter, everyone ran, trying to escape the storm monster. Kestro darted, zig and zagged, racing as fast as he could, but he wavered when he met the invisible wall at the end of the reef and the monster caught him in its soft folds.

Then Kestro was gone. In the wake of his absence, the next largest fish in the aquarium would become the new alpha male.
