Present Day 2005

Jillian pushed herself harder through the trail in the woods.  Although she was in top physical shape, she could feel the difference the beating she was giving herself was making.   She was soon closing in on her halfway mark and had no desire to turn around.  In fact, she’d been feeling like bolting for a few months now.  Her mind replayed the argument that she and Casey had before Casey stormed out of the house.   Jillian was at a loss and ended up lifting weights for two hours before coming out to the trail.  She could not understand, for the life of her, what was making Casey so argumentative lately.  Nothing Jillian did anymore pleased her.  At first, Jillian made the decision to try and stay out of her way until the time came for them to leave to go to her parent’s 50th wedding anniversary.   However, the more she thought about it the more she knew that wouldn’t work.   She was fast approaching the turning point home and decided to go ahead and start back.  After all she only had 45 minutes to get ready for work and would need 15 of them at least to get back to the house.

“Hey Casey. How’s it going”

“Hey Steve. Pretty good and yourself?”

“Great.  Hey my wife and I are having a dinner party this weekend; we wanted to know if you and Jillian could come.”

Casey furrowed her brow in thought, wondering if this would be a way to get out of going to Jillian’s parents this weekend, then thought better of it.  Even though she didn’t feel it, she smiled sweetly and Steve and replied, “Sorry Steve, we have plans, maybe some other time?”

“No problem.  Hold on let me get the phone.”  Steve tried to say, but it was too late, Casey was already down the hall.

Casey went into her office and closed the door quickly before she could be disturbed by anyone.  Her head was killing her and she kept hearing the angry words she spat out at Jillian.  She couldn’t believe how awful things had gotten between them.  She thought for sure that she could handle everything better.  But she couldn’t erase the events of that fateful Halloween.

She could still hear Morgan’s voice in her ear, whispering softly.  Feel her soft hands caressing her all over.  Even now, Casey’s dreams were filled with her and it all started over for her two weeks ago when Jillian announced that they were leaving for her parent’s anniversary.

Two Weeks Earlier

“Hey babe, guess what? My family’s getting together to throw a party for my parent’s 50th anniversary. It‘s next month on the 15th.”

“Really?  That’s great babe, where?”

“We’re doing it at the lake house and guess who’s coming in?  Morgan!! Isn’t that great babe!  I can’t wait to see her.  It’s been about two years since we saw each other last and I can’t wait.”

“Well babe, that sounds good and everything, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it up there.  I think I have a special project going on that weekend. “

Jillian’s smile faded only a little but enough to let Casey know that her not coming was really not an option.  She walked over to Jillian slowly reached out to run her fingers over her brow down her cheek and over her lips.  Then she kissed Jillian’s lips softly.  Casey straightened up and smiled down at Jillian.  “Baby, how about this, I’ll promise to work out something so I can be there for you. OK?”

Jillian stood to her full height picking up Casey on the way and kissing her long and hard.  “Thank you baby.  Plus, it’s not just about them, I have a surprise for you.  You’ll love it!”

Casey was so heart sick when she found out that Morgan would be there she missed Jillian‘s hint about a surprise.  It hurt even more knowing that somewhere, not so far in the back of  her mind, she was looking forward to it.  Casey had been going along the last few weeks as if everything were OK.  Well not everything.   Her sleep had been invaded by dreams of Jillian’s sister, and it was making her snappish and just down right bitchy.  She had to think of something…but what?

Jillian was going through her e-mails when her secretary, Martha buzzed her.

“Hi Martha.  Is it time?”

“Yes, Jill it’s time.  By the way have you had lunch today?”  Jillian inwardly winced at the question and then lied.

“I sure did, I brought it from home.” She smiled at how easy that came out.

“Well that’s good. What did you have?” Martha asked knowing that Jillian wasn’t telling the truth.  She’d been Jillian’s secretary for five years ever since Jillian first started and, as Jillian moved up, Jillian always looked out for her.  They bonded almost like mother and daughter, except that Martha had no children and wanted none.  But for a reason she herself didn’t understand, she took to Jillian immediately, and knew her like the back of her hand.  For instance, lately, it seemed that Jillian had become more pre-occupied.  Where she used to go out for lunch and come back ready to work but relaxed; now she spent more time in her office.  She was even beating Martha to work. Which wouldn’t be so bad, if she wasn’t the last one leaving the office.

“OK fine, you got me.   I haven’t had time yet Ma.  Can you forgive me?”  Jillian did her best to pout through the phone to avoid Martha’s chastisement.  She knew that wasn’t taking care of herself the way she should. She wasn’t sleeping as well either. She wasn’t really sure why, just a general uneasiness that she couldn’t put her finger on.  Her hope was that this weekend with her family and going with Casey to the cottage in Colorado afterward would help.  She’d been missing Casey.  It didn’t make sense really.  She saw her everyday but for reasons she couldn’t explain she felt uneasy.  Maybe she and Casey could discuss it and air out why they were at odds with each other all the time.

“…..well no matter that, it’s time for you to meet the new addition.  Jillian?  Still there?”

Jillian, realizing she’d drifted hurried and responded “Uhhhh yes.  Sorry I drifted for a second.  I’m on my way out now.  Just have to grab my jacket and then I’ll be ready.”

“OK.  I’ll let them know.  Also, while your out….eat something.  That way you can focus.” Martha got in her last say as usual and Jillian just acquiesced.

“Alright Ma, scout’s honor.”  At that Jillian grabbed her jacket and walked out the office looking back to throw Martha a wink and smile to which Martha just chuckled.  After Jillian turned the corner, Martha sent up a silent prayer that everything was alright for Jillian and went back to work.

Jillian made it to the meeting right on time.  The President of her company was making a long-winded speech about teamwork, company growth potential and the new millennium.   Jillian had heard it many, many times before.  But that wasn’t important.  What was important was that this new addition to the ‘family’ was going to be her charge until she or he became acclimated to the system.  So Jillian went to get a general feel for her and it seemed to tie up the research that she did on her as well.  She’d never been too far off on any trainee that she’d had.   She’d never met her match either.

“……..  and with all of that said, please let me spare you any more boredom from me and introduce to you….”  Jillian was just making eye contact with Carl and giving him the yawn sign when she caught sight out of the corner of her eye the most beautiful set of emerald green eyes. She turned around completely, her smile frozen on her face.

“……Samantha Martin.”  Everyone in the crowd applauded as Samantha stepped up to the podium and cleared her throat before speaking.  Jillian was stunned.  She had to swallow hard to keep her mouth from dropping open.  Samantha was beautiful and that seemed to be putting it lightly.  Her hair was long, jet black, and hung in soft curls down her back to about mid shoulder.  Her speech was very short, but that didn’t matter because Jillian missed the words altogether.  She was staring at the dimples embedded deep in both sides of Samantha’s cheeks as she talked and even when she smiled, which she did when she finished her speech and stepped down for introductions.

“Wow…she’s really something, huh Jillian.”  Carl was grinning like the Cheshire cat.

“Carl you might want to calm down a little, she’s coming this way.”  Carl got it together just in time.

“Hello Jillian, I’d like to introduce to you Miss Samantha Martin.”  Bob stated with a proud grin on his face.  He always treated new execs as a prize.  Then again, his company was one of the top 25 in the world, so who was he to complain.

Samantha extended her arm and took Jillian’s hand.  “Hello Jillian.  I understand I’m to be your trainee for my first few months here.  I’m looking forward to it.”  Samantha smiled brightly at Jillian as she stated this and she held Jillian’s eyes with hers for a moment longer than she intended to.

“Well thanks for saying that Samantha.  However, your real training won’t begin until I come back from vacation.   That will give you plenty of time to get acquainted with the other partners.  That way you will have plenty of time to learn the right way to do your job, before I come in and mess you up.”  Jillian said pleasantly.

Jillian noticed that she was again staring and had to blink a few times to break eye contact with Samantha, but once that was accomplished, she started to relax. At least somewhat.

“Call me Sam. I have no doubt that you are more than capable of training me.  Of course I’ll be ready for you when you return.  However is there a way that we can go over some things before you leave?”

“Well of course she can.”  Bob chimed in.  “Jillian hasn‘t had lunch yet. Maybe you two can do that when this is over. In about 10 minutes I think.  It won’t take you long to shake hands with the rest of the team.”

Jillian feeling cornered had no choice and decided that since she did have to eat, it wouldn’t hurt her to have lunch with Samantha.

“Sure sounds like a good idea to me. Carl would you like to join us?”  Jillian said with a slight pleading in her voice.

Carl heard and smiled.  “I’d love to, but I’ve already had lunch and I have some files to go over before I send them out this evening.  Sam it was a pleasure meeting you but if you’ll excuse me.”

“Oh no problem. It was nice meeting you also Carl. Bye”

Jillian shot a look at Carl while Samantha’s attentions were turned toward Bob.  He smiled sheepishly then took off sprinting down the hall. Doesn’t matter I’ll get him. Jillian thought amusingly.

“OK, Sam how can you give me 15 minutes?  I’ll go and get my things and meet you over at the door.  I’ll drive if that’s OK?  Just let me know what you’d like.  As the newbie, you have first choice.”

“Sounds great.  I’ll be ready when you return.”

“OK then.  Bob I’ll talk to you later?”

“Absolutely, that way we can cover anything that might be missed during your trip.”

“Fine.  Be back in a bit.”  With that Jillian was off on the way to retrieve her things.  She was looking forward to the lunch, even thought it surprised her that she would be asked to have lunch with Samantha.  The department usually had all of that ready.  Guess they’re trying a new approach.  Oh well.

“Martha, guess where I’m going?”  Martha just raised her eyebrows.  Not once did she actually look up.

“Aw Ma don‘t be mad at me, I’m going to lunch now.  I’ll even bring you back something if you like to prove it to you.”  Jillian stood in front of Martha’s desk, kneeled in front of her, and batted her long lashes quickly at Martha.

“Ohhh, fine” Martha said and smiled brightly.  “You go and enjoy yourself and take your time.  We can survive without you for an hour or two.”

Jillian smiled and gave Martha a kiss on the cheek.  Then she went into the office grabbed her things and left..

4

Samantha was in the middle of talking with one of the senior VP’s when she noticed Jillian coming around the corner.  She gave Jillian a slight nod and smile so that Jillian could know that she had seen her.  Jillian pointed to towards the refreshment table and started on her way over.  Samantha smiled in understanding and returned her full attention to the present conversation.

While Jillian waited, Jonathon walked over to her and started talking about some ideas for the project they were to work on together.  Jillian concentrated as much as she could, but her hunger was getting the better of her.  She was doing a good job of paying attention when she noticed Jonathon's eyes wandering.

“….no, I think that will be fine.  But we can discuss that idea in further detail when I come back. For now let’s…..Jonathon?  Hey?  You with me?”

Jillian turned around to see what called Jonathon’s attention away so suddenly.  She smiled to herself when she noticed.

“Hello Jillian, I just wanted to let you know that I was ready when you were.”

“ OK Samantha.  I was just finishing up here so we can…”

“Jillian aren’t you going to introduce us?” Jonathon interjected brashly.  “She can be so rude sometimes.  I’m Jonathon Ayers and you are?”  Jillian thought it best to try to head this situation off quickly.

“Jonathon, this is Samantha Martin.  She just joined our team today and I’ve been assigned to train her to our system of running things.  Jonathon will be working with us the project I‘m heading.  His team is handling the finance part while we work with the designing and construction.”  Jonathon extended his hand as he gave Samantha the once over.  His eyes roamed slowly over Samantha from head to toe before giving her his most salacious smile.

“Miss Martin?  It is a pleasure meeting you.  Sorry, I missed the reception in your honor.  Had I known you would be so stunning I would have been the first to greet you.”

Samantha pulled her hand away with as much grace as she could muster and replied calmly. “Hello Mr. Ayers it’s nice to meet you as well.”

“Why all the formality, Jon will do just fine.”  Jonathon then proceeded to grace her with another “winning” smile.

“Ummmmm, OK Jon.  We have to get going.  But remember if you need anything just send an e-mail and I’ll make any changes tonight and have them in your inbox in the morning.” Said Jillian quickly.

Jonathon never taking his eyes off of Samantha replied distractedly “Whenever is fine with me Jillian, maybe I’ll come by and go over them with you both.  That will give Samantha and me time to talk a little more.”  Sam had to fight the urge to punch Jon in the face.  If she hadn’t been out in the open she would have done so already.  She was just about to say something when Jillian cut in.

“Well Jonathon, that won’t be a good idea at least for now.  I have a lot to cover with Samantha before I go.  How about after I fill Samantha in we can all go over the direction we want the project to take. Besides, don’t you think we should go easy on her?  After all it is her first day.”

“Well you have a point there.  Besides I have meeting I have to attend.  Jillian, the numbers will be in your box by three o’clock think that will give you time to go over them? Sure it will.  Don’t even know why I asked. Ladies, it has been a pleasure. And Samantha...”  Jonathon said as he leaned down to kiss the back of her hand. “….until next time?”

Samantha held back a grimace and replied icily “Until next time.”  Jillian tried hard not to laugh as she noticed Samantha’s face twist up as if she’d bitten a lemon.  Samantha was trying to wipe the remnants of Jon off of her when Jillian offered her a napkin.

“Sorry about that.”  Jillian offered sincerely.  “I guess he likes you?”

Samantha couldn’t help but smile.  “Must be my lucky day.  New job and admirer.  Hope the job goes better.”

“I promise you, it will be.  Should we go?”

“Yes.  I’m starved.”

“Great!  That makes two of us.””

“What are you in the mood for?  Italian? Mexican? Burgers? You get first day privileges”

“Only one day?  Wow! You are a slave driver.”  Samantha said easily and gave a slight laugh.

“Oh no, of course not.  Unlike most new employees, you have two whole weeks of special treatment but only because I’ll be gone for that time.  But when I get back….”

Samantha raised an eyebrow and turned in her chair to face same more directly.  She noticed Jillian’s face was set dead ahead and she didn’t even blink an eye.  Jillian, on the other hand, was enjoying making the newbie squirm.  She noticed Samantha’s questioning gaze and responded slowly.  “…..Be ready.”

Samantha’s eyebrows furrowed and she started to shift back around towards the front.  Jillian then broke out in a wide grin and started laughing.  Samantha released a deep sigh and began to smile herself.

“Relax Samantha.  I promise it won’t be bad.  I’ll work with you and make sure that you have everything you need.  I won’t leave you high and dry while I’m gone.  I’ll give you my contact number and I’ll even have my Ma help you.”

“Thanks Jillian.  I appreciate that.  But why would your mother help?  Does she work there too?”

Jillian laughed a little at Samantha’s confusion and explained.  “No Samantha, not my mother. Ma is Martha.  She’s my secretary.  More than that actually, she’s been my right hand for the past 5 years.  She can help you probably better than I can actually.  She keeps me sane.”

“Wow, she must really mean a lot to you.” Samantha smiled softly at the way Jillian talked about her secretary.  She also welcomed the change of conversation.  Jillian’s presence was a little unnerving.  There was just something about her.  Oh well she thought.  It must just be my nerves and the excitement of the first day.

“Hey you never told me what you wanted.  Is Italian OK?”

“Yes.  That sounds perfect.””

*****************************************************************

“So tell me, what made you decide to come and work for us?”

Samantha thought for a moment before answering and then started.  “Well to be honest I really don’t know what made me pack up all of my things and come out here to Houston.  I had been happy living in Lafayette but I guess I felt I needed a change.  I had been looking for a better position and when I applied….well let’s just say I had no idea.  A part of me still can’t believe it. This a great opportunity.”

“What about your family and friends?  Do you miss them?”  Asked Jillian intrigued.

“Well of course I do, but the offer was too good to pass up.  Plus, my family is very supportive of me and I know that if I need any encouraging, all I have to do is call them.  They’re great that way.  Anyway, I won’t have time to think about all that, I’ll be busy with work, right boss?”

Jillian chuckled a bit and smiled as she answered Samantha’s question.  “You really don‘t have to worry, I’m not that bad.  I’ll make it as painless as possible until you get to know me.”

Samantha raised an eyebrow and said “And then….”  Wanting to know what she really had to deal with from her trainer.

“What do you mean ‘and then’?” Jillian could hardly keep the smile off her face as she watched Samantha tense up.

“Is this the kind of torture you put all of your trainees through?”  Samantha asked with a soft smile.

“No of course not.  I make them work with Jon. At that, Jillian threw her head back and laughed out loud.

The look on Samantha’s face was priceless.   However, she was relieved to know that Samantha took it as a joke as well and they both had good long laugh about it.

“Sorry Samantha.  I guess I should be nicer.  I’m just trying to let you know how persistent he can be.”

“Well he’s wasting his time with me.  I’m not interested.  I know I need to make a few new friends, but, believe me, he won’t be one of them.”

“Well listen, I don’t usually do this but since you are in my ‘care’ so to speak.  How about you come by my house and meet my girlfriend, Casey.  She’d love to meet you and she always knows about something going on in the city.  Maybe you two can get together and hang out until you familiarize yourself with the city.”

“Sounds good to me.  I appreciate the offer.” Samantha stated sincerely.

“Think nothing of it.  I think Casey will love the idea.  She knows this city better than I do.  Believe me, you won’t be bored.”

“Great.  Now what’s going on that I have to wait two weeks to be trained?  And please tell me you were joking about pairing me with Jon in the meantime?”

Jillian laughed softly.  “I promise you that you will not be put with Jon.  I can tell you have better taste than that.  Secondly my parent’s are having their 50th wedding anniversary.  So I’m going to be with them for that this weekend and then Casey and I are going on a trip of our own to Colorado.”

“Wow! Fifty years?  That‘s really awesome.   Thanks so much for not leaving me with Jon.” Samantha said the last gratefully.

“Yeah well, I wouldn’t do that to anyone, if I could help it and since I can, then you will be spared.”

“Thanks, oh benevolent one.”  said Samantha teasingly.

“All right, all right. I guess I should try to tell you a little about what you’ll be doing with us, don’t you think.”

“Sure I’m ready whenever you are.” Samantha grabbed her planner and a pen and got ready to write.

“What are you doing?”  Jillian was surprised at Samantha’s efficiency.

“Are you joking? I’m taking notes.”  Samantha stated plainly.

“Well, OK.  I guess I’ve never had anyone take notes on anything I say.  I’m impressed I think.”

“Good.  Now you can enjoy your trip knowing that your project will be in capable hands.”  Samantha smiled at the incredulous look on Jillian’s face and said, “Shall we begin?”

“Sure.” Jillian smiled. “Let’s begin”

5

Casey had been closed off in her office for most of the day.  She’d gotten through all of her early morning meetings and was sitting back trying to talk herself into a better mood.

Why am I worrying so much about this.  It was one night!  Besides, I’m sure Morgan has forgotten about the whole thing.  We didn’t plan it, or rather, I didn’t plan on being with her.

Casey got out of her chair and walked over to the window.  She looked out over the city and sighed heavily.  Jillian has been so attentive since then.  Not that she wasn’t before, but it’s changed somehow.  It’s almost like she’s a completely different person.  She leaned back, placed her head against the wall, and frowned.  I just need to relax and let it go.  Plus it’s just a weekend.  I won’t have a problem getting through that.

Now that Casey was finished psyching herself up for the big event.  She settled down and began to tie up any loose ends she’d be leaving before she left.  It was relatively easy to do, as she’d thrown herself into her work every since the incident.  Unlike Jillian, who worked like she did because she was driven to, Casey did it to avoid Jillian.  It worked out in the beginning, but Jillian mistakenly saw it as receiving a taste of her own medicine.   Casey was just about to leave for the day when the phone rang.

“Hey baby.  How are you?”  Jillian’s voice purred on the other line.

“Mmmmm, pretty good now and you?”  said Casey smiling softly.

“Well that depends…I have two things to tell you.  One you may not like so much.”  Jillian said tentatively.

“OK, give me the bad news first babe.  I can take it.”  Casey said apprehensively.

“Well first, I have to stay here later than I planned tonight so I can have all the lose ends tied up before we leave on Friday.”

“That doesn’t sound too bad Jill.  What’s the good news?”

“I’ve been assigned a trainee.  She’s just moved her from Louisiana and I wanted to know if you were up to meeting her and maybe showing her around the city.  I already volunteered you as I assumed that running around with a strange woman would be out of the question for me.”  Jillian said with a light chuckle.

“Well babe, you’re right.  You running around with what I would assume to be an attractive young woman while I sit at home, alone, all night would not sit well with me.  Although I trust you,   I would love to meet her and show her around.  When will all of this take place?”  Casey asked casually.

“Not until we get back from our trip.  I just wanted you to know what was going on and also give you time to get some ideas if you have any?”  Jillian said as she relaxed a little.

“OK then.  Sounds good.  What time do you think you’ll be home?  I was thinking about cooking dinner.”

“That sounds good.  Just don’t wait up for me.  I’ll eat when I get home and I promise I’ll try to get done as soon as possible.  OK babe?”

Casey smiled and answered sweetly.  “It’s fine baby.  Do what you need.  Just know that after we finish with your family, you are all mine?”  She growled the last part seductively into Jillian’s ear.  Jillian responded in kind and told her she would not be long.

“I love you baby.”  Casey whispered softly.

“I love you too babe.  See you tonight.”  Casey hung up the phone and started clearing her desk to close out for the day.

She packed up her briefcase and left her office for home..

*************************************************************

Casey arrived about 30 minutes later and got ready to take shower.  She’d taken off her clothes and slipped on her robe and was headed to the bathroom.  She’d just turned the water to the right temperature when the phone rang.

“Hello?”  Casey answered seductively.

“Well Hi Casey.  Is Jillian there?”  Morgan heard the seductive tone in Casey’s voice and was tempted to say something totally inappropriate.  Thank God she used her better judgment.

“No…” Casey said icily. “She isn‘t here.  Is that all you wanted?”

“Well I just called to find out what her plans were in regards to a gift for mom and dad’s anniversary.  You wouldn’t happen to know would you?”  Morgan tried to maintain some sense of courtesy. But the change in Casey’s attitude was making it difficult.

She had been avoiding her sister, Casey and the whole situation every since the night of the party.  She could still remember the shock of seeing Casey’s face at the stroke of midnight.  She couldn’t make it out of there fast enough.  For weeks she tried erasing the image of Casey from her mind and that worked for a time but, there were still times when she thought back on that night.  And what a night that was.  Morgan shook off the thought just as she had been for a while.  She thought at the time that leaving quickly was the best plan of action.  Now she wished that they would have talked a little and cleared the air.  Then little calls like this wouldn’t be so difficult.

“No.  I have no idea what they are planning.  Do you want me to tell Jillian that you called.”  Casey tried to hurry Morgan off the phone quickly.  Maintaining her calm was becoming increasingly more difficult.  And she just wanted to get Morgan’s voice out of her head.  Quickly.

“Look Casey.  I didn’t call to cause you any grief.  Could you please just let Jill know that I called?  She can call me at home when she comes in.”  Morgan said rubbing the bridge of her nose, trying to remain cordial.

Casey relaxed and answered smoothly.  “Yes, Morgan.  I’ll tell her.  But she won’t be coming in until late.”

Morgan sighed deeply before answering.  “That’s fine; if it’s too late then she can call me tomorrow.  Thank you Casey.  Really.  Sorry I disturbed you.  Bye.”

Before Casey had a chance to respond, she heard the line go dead.  She placed the phone on the base and headed for her shower.   She went in, got her shower out of the way, and went into the kitchen to fix something for herself and Jillian.  Once done, she sat in front of the television but wasn’t really paying attention to what was on.  She decided to call Jillian to distract herself from the tempestuous thoughts that threatened to run rampant in her mind.

“Hello.  Jillian speaking.” Jillian answered drowsily.

“Hey babe. How are you coming along?  You sound tired.”  Casey asked compassionately.

“I am babe, but I’m almost done here.  How are you holding up?  Did you eat?”  Jillian asked while trying to stifle a yawn.  She stretched her back and then did a hard twist, her spine cracking all the way down.

“Yes, I ate.  I’m just calling to make sure you’re alright.”

“I am baby.  Thanks for asking.  Hey why don’t I let this go for now.  I can just come in extra early and finish this.  I’m almost done anyway.  Think you can wait for me before you go to bed?”

“Yes baby.  I’ll be up when you get here.  Be careful coming home, OK babe.”

“Of course I will.  You want me to stop and get you anything on the way?”

“No baby.  Just hurry.”  Casey said the last in a seductive voice; silently thanking God for Jillian’s change of plans.

Jillian smiled through the phone and answered.  “I’m on my way baby.”  Her own alto voice dipped down to a lower more passionate tone..

*******************************************************************

Jillian entered the house and placed her suitcase on the floor.  She hung up her jacket and started walking towards the bedroom.  She was just about to turn the corner when she heard a voice calling softly from behind her.

“Looking for me?”  Jillian turned around and was stopped cold.  Casey was lying back on the couch dressed in a silver satin robe that was opened.  Underneath, she wore a matching silver chemise that stopped about mid-thigh.  She had one armed draped over the chair above her head and the other stretched out before her.

“Come here babe.  Lay down with me.”  Jillian walked slowly over and stood at the head end of the couch.  Casey sat up, turned, and placed her feet on the floor.  She motioned for Jillian to sit down on the floor between her legs.   Jillian did as she was told and settled her broad shoulders in between Casey‘s legs.  Casey placed her hands on Jillian’s shoulders and started rubbing lightly.

“You alright babe? You want to go to bed.”  Casey said as she began to work her hands a little harder into Jillian’s tired muscles.

“Mmmmm no.  I’m fine right here.”  Jillian began to relax and let Casey massage her shoulders.  However Jillian’s libido got hotter as Casey continued.

“You know, this would be easier if you would take off your shirt for me.”  Casey whispered hotly in Jillian’s ear.  Jillian complied and stared unbuttoning her shirt.  Once the buttons were completely undone, she removed her blouse and threw it across the floor.

“Better baby?”

“Much.”  Jillian sighed deeply and ran her fingers down Casey’s legs and began to gently rub the toes on both of her feet.  She wrapped her strong hands around Casey’s instep and massaged deeply.  She was just about to move place a foot in her lap when Casey made move to stand.

“Sit on the couch and lay back.”  Casey commanded.  She watched Jillian with hooded eyes as Jillian pulled herself up on the couch.  Jillian was about to undo the belt of her pants when Casey placed a hand over hers.

“No.  I’ll take care of that.”  Casey walked closer to Jillian and placed her knees on the couch on either side of her.  She settled herself between Jillian’s legs and wrapped her arms around her neck.  Casey lowered her head  while maintaining eye contact with Jillian.  She then stuck her tongue out just enough to lick Jillian’s lips.  “Jill? Do you have any idea of how good you taste?”

“Mmmmm, no.”  Jillian gave an easy smile when she answered, but her body was on fire.  She moved her fingers along Casey’s thighs, barely touching them.  She let her fingernails run further up and around to the back of Casey’s thighs and brought her palms up to cup Casey’s soft, firm ass.  She squeezed firmly and then pulled Casey deeper into the kiss.  She moved her hands slowly up and over Casey’s back.  She linked her long fingers through Casey’s thick, wavy, brown hair.   She pulled her closer as her tongue swirled inside Casey’s mouth.  Sucking and pulling it deeper into her own.

Casey let out a low moan as Jillian became more arduous.  She thought for a moment that she would be the one making Jillian ‘relax’ but Jillian’s kisses became too much for her and she melted almost instantly.  Casey felt her hips move back and forth against Jillian’s pelvis.  She broke the kiss and leaned her forehead against Jillian’s.  Breathing hard and fast.  She was just about to pull up when in order to pull Jillian into the bedroom.

“No.  I need you now….”Jillian whispered hotly.  “….I want you right now.”  Jillian’s cerulean blue eyes were alit with fire.  As she stared at Casey, she ran her hands around and cupped Casey’s soft supple breast.  She lowered her head and took one of Casey’s nipples in to her mouth.  She sucked and licked Casey’s nipple through the soft material of her chemise; running her tongue over Casey’s already erect nipple teasingly.  As she teased Casey’s nipples she moved her hand to the hem of her nightie and pulled it slowly over Casey’s head.  She let her fingertips lightly play against Casey’s skin and could feel the goose bumps she was leaving behind.  Jillian then took one of Casey’s breast into her warm hands and massaged slowly.  She kissed Casey’s breast slowly.  Letting her tongue run circles around the nipples.  Flicking it faster and faster over Casey’s firm nubs and sucking them deeply into her warm mouth.

Casey was in ecstasy.  Her body was responding to every inch of Jill and she could feel the familiar wetness between her legs.  Her own hands wrapped in Jillian’s soft blonde hair and pulled her mouth closer.  She was close to loosing control, when Jillian bit sharply on her breast and sucked, hard.  Her clit jumped involuntarily with the action and she gasped just loud enough to cause Jillian to look up.

“You OK baby?”  Jillian asked with a smile.  She had her hands draped around Casey’s waist and waited with anticipation.

“Yes baby.  Oh god yes!!”  She pulled Jillian’s lips to hers and kissed her roughly.   Jillian responded by picking up Casey in her arms and turning her over roughly.  She kissed her way down Casey’s body causing Casey to spread her legs open so that Jillian could have better access.  Jillian licked a hot, trail down Casey’s torso.  Stopping only once to admire the sweetest spot on her lover’s body.

“I love you.”  Whispered Jillian as she looked into Casey’s luminescent gray eyes.

Casey didn’t have time to respond.  Before she knew it, she felt Jillian’s hot tongue on her slit, French kissing her soft pussy lips.  Casey then felt Jillian take her clit into her mouth.  Sucking, licking, and pulling it deep into her mouth.  At the same time, Jillian brought her finger up to tease Casey wet opening with her long fingers.  She allowed her fingers to revel in Casey’s warm slickness before working them in and out of her relentlessly.  Jillian pulled her fingers out long enough to work her tongue deep into Casey‘s sweet slick center.  Jillian’s tongue worked around and around in an circle at a furious pace.  She felt the beginnings of Casey’s orgasm, her nectar running in a torrential river and Jillian drank it all.  Enjoying it as if it were the first time she‘d ever sampled the delicious sweetness.

Casey’s body broke out in a sweat, she didn‘t think she could hold back any longer and she didn’t want to.  She inhaled deeply, arched her hips and cried out Jillian’s name.  Her hips bucked wildly against Jillian’s mouth as her body carried out its much needed release.

Jillian laid her head in between Casey’s legs and let her body relax.  Her last move was to strip off her pants and underwear and crawl up the couch so she could wrap Casey in her arms.  Noticing that Casey had passed out and fallen fast asleep, Jillian ran her hands lightly over her forehead, smiled and spoke softly.  “I love you baby.  Soon you’ll see just how much.”  As her thoughts drifted to Casey, Jillian fell fast asleep.

The next morning found Jillian at the office a little later than she's planned and there was one person who was happy to see it.  Ma was grinning broadly as she watched Jillian sprint around the corner.

"Stop that will you.  I over slept and now I have a major report to get out with only three hours to go..." Jillian stated with exasperation. She'd paused just long enough to give Martha a sly grin.

“By the way, Samantha is already in your office.  She made it to work on time.”  Martha said with a bright smile.

“Good for her.  Looks like I’ll be able to enjoy my trip after all.”  Jillian said as she entered her office.  “Looks like someone’s after my job.”  She winked at Sam.  Samantha laughed at that.

“Not hardly.  You have too much going on.  I’m not that good, yet.”  Sam winked at Jillian after that.

“So you’re telling me I have a few years before I’m forced to retire.  Thanks.”  Jillian replied sarcastically.  “Come on let’s get going.”

The day passed quickly for both ladies.  Jillian’s presentation went fine and she was confident that Samantha would be able to grasp what was going on.  She was finally looking forward to a trip without a nagging feeling that everything would be chaos when she returned to the office and she said as much to Samantha before she left for the day.

“Sam, I’m really impressed with how you’re doing here in your first couple of days.  Remember if you need anything, just ask Martha and if you have an emergency, just call me.  I left you my cell number.  I’ll be checking it periodically.  Any questions?”

“No, Jillian.  I think I have everything for now but thank you.”

“Ok then, enjoy your weekend and I’ll call you on Wednesday, just to see how you are.  Bye.”

Jillian then walked out of her office and gave Martha a kiss on the cheek before she left.  “Wish me luck.”  She stated before she left.  The then turned and waived to Samantha and was down the hall.

“What did she mean by ‘good luck’?”  Samantha asked Martha.

“Oh, she’s going to ask Casey to marry her.”  Martha said with wistfully.  Lucky woman,  Samantha thought.

“That’s wonderful.  Think we should plan a party for her when she comes back?”

“That sounds like a great idea.  But we’ll have to wait until Jillian gets back to plan it. Her schedule is too hectic to plan a surprise.”

“Sounds good. Just let me know how I can help you Martha.  It would be my pleasure.”

“You can count on it.”  Said Martha before she prepared to leave.  Samantha went back into Jillian’s office and did the same.

7

Jillian made it home in record time and Casey was already waiting with their bags packed.  “Ready baby?” Casey asked?

“Just let me shower and change and then I’ll load everything into the car.”  Jillian did just that.  Within a couple of hours the two were on the road.  They arrived at Jillian’s parent’s lake house at around midnight where Jillian used her key to enter.  Jillian left her mother a note to announce their arrival and the couple went straight to one of the guest rooms.

The couple awoke early to the smell of bacon and waffles.  “Mmmmmm no place like home.” Jillian said groggily as she climbed out of bed and headed downstairs.  “Happy Anniversary mom.”  Jillian greeted her mother as she placed two waffles in the oven to keep warm.

“Good morning honey!  It is so good to see you.  What time did you get here, and why didn’t you wake us?”  Just like mom to go from happiness to scolding all in the same minute.  Jillian laughed at her mother’s excitement.

“It’s good to see you too mom. We got in at around midnight and the reason we didn’t wake you is because you might not have been asleep.”  Jillian winked at her mom after that and grinned mischievously.  Her mother looked stunned at first, and then slapped Jillian on the arm.  But Jillian noticed the flush in her mom’ cheeks and the two women just laughed out loud.

“Well shame on you anyway.  I guess I can’t be too upset, you did leave a note.”

“Yes, this turned out to be best.  Where’s dad.” Asked Jillian abruptly, trying to avoid a more sever beating.

“He’s outside getting the grill ready.”

“Already?”

“Yes.  You know how he is; I’m surprised the house is still standing.”  Mrs. Reece laughed.   Jillian sighed.

“I guess I’d better go and help him.”

“Morning dad, how’s it going?”

“Jilly!  Hey honey how are you?  Where’s Casey?”   Jefferson Reece gave his daughter a huge bear hug and kissed her on the cheek.

“I’m great dad.  Casey’s still asleep.  Mom sent me out here to keep an eye on you.”  Jillian said with a smile.

“Your mother’s always worried about the house burning down.  I told her we have insurance.”  The two of them laughed heartily at that.

“Dad let me get changed then we’ll start the grill.”

“Sounds good to me.  Meet you back here in 15 minutes.”

Meanwhile, Casey was coming down the stairs and saw Ms. Reece in the kitchen.  “Good morning Mrs. Reece.  How are you?”

“Good morning Casey.  When are you going to start calling me Hilary.  You’re family now.”

“I know Hilary.  I’m just not used to it.”  Casey couldn’t help but smiling.

“Well get used to it dear. After two years, you’re entitled.  Now get over here and help me with breakfast.”  Casey couldn’t help but laughed and the she started cracking eggs for breakfast.

“Morning baby.”  Jillian said as she walked in the door and kissed Casey softly on the lips.

“Where are you going?” Casey asked.

“I’m going to change up and held dad with the grill.”

“Be careful baby. We’ll let you and your dad know when breakfast is ready.”

“Sounds good.  Have fun you two.”  Jillian turned and gave her mother a kiss on the cheek and went to get ready.

********************************************************************

As morning led into afternoon the foursome had breakfast and Jillian and her father went out to watch the grill and talk shop.  Reece was telling stories about some of his more comedic hospital patients when they saw a red Camaro barrel up the road.

“Look Jilly, Morgan’s earlier than I thought she would be.”  Sure enough the car came to a screeching halt and out stepped the fiery red-head that was Morgan Reece.

“Hey sis, hey pop.  Had the fire chief out to the house yet?”

“Morgan!  How are you little sis?”  Jillian ran over and hugged her sister tightly. “It’s good to see you Mor.”

“It’s good to be seen Jill.  You look good.  How have things been with you?”

“I can’t complain.  How about yourself?  No hot girl keeping you company this trip?”  Morgan laughed loudly.

“I wish.  Maybe I’ll do a little hunting when the cousins get her.  Bill and Jim are always ready to lose a bet with me.  Plus the gas money would come in handy.”  The two hugged again before Dr. Reece came over and gave Morgan the same bear hug he‘d given Jillian.

“Morgan it’s good to see.  Go in the kitchen and see if there’s any breakfast left for you.”

“Yeah mom and Casey are in there now, there should be some left.”  Morgan’s stomach turned a little at the mention of Casey’s name, but neither Jillian nor her father noticed it.

“Ok then sounds good.  Then I’ll come out and join you two.”

“Sounds good, Morgan.  We won’t do any major damage until you get here.”  Jefferson promised as he watched his daughter go inside.

“Hi mom.”  Morgan said as Mrs. Reece turned to give her baby girl a hug and a kiss on the lips.

“Morgan, I wasn’t expecting you until tonight.  How are you?  I’ll fix you something to eat.”

“I’m good mom, and don’t worry about the food.  I’ll fix it.  How have you been?”

“I’m good me and Casey were just sitting her talking about you and Jillian.  I think I was boring her, she went to the restroom.”

“I doubt that mom, we got into so much trouble that you could probably go on a comedy tour.”  They both laughed at that.  Then Morgan saw Casey descend the steps.  It took not even a moment for that Halloween night two years ago to start replaying through her mind. Luckily, her mom had turned to make her a plate of breakfast.

Casey noticed the look in Morgan’s eyes.  Hers were no different.  They stared at each other for what seemed a very long time, then Casey cleared her throat.

“Hello Morgan.  How are you?”  Casey said quietly.  Morgan shook her head a bit to clear it.

“I’m good Casey.  Thanks for asking.  How was your trip? I hear mom’s been boring you to death with stories about me and Jill.”  Casey smiled at that.  Morgan knew at that moment, that this would be harder than she thought it would be.

“No.  It’s not bad.  Hilary is great at telling stories. You two were a handful.”

“Yes they were.  And still are.”  She said as she set the plate in front of Morgan.  “Now eat up, we have a lot to do before do before everybody arrives this evening.”

“I think I’ll go and see what Jill and Dr. errr….Jefferson are up to.”  Casey said as she slipped out the door.

The guests started arriving around five that evening and by eight o‘clock the party was in full swing.  Aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, associates all crowded the house and it’s surroundings.  A band was playing and kids were running around everywhere.  Everyone was having a good time.  Everyone except Casey.  Morgan invited an old ‘friend’ of hers and the two seemed to be getting along rather well.  Too well.  Casey felt like a fool for letting it get to her but she couldn’t help it.  She was not handling this as well as she should have been and seeing Jillian approach only made it worse.  It was the guilt that was driving Casey nuts.  That and the fact that she could still feel Morgan.

“Hey baby, having a good time?”  Jillian sensed a change Casey, but she couldn’t get put her finger on it.  She hated to ask, but she was at a loss, and she needed some kind of answer.

“Yes sweetheart.  Everything’s fine.  Why would you ask that?”   Casey gave Jillian her biggest smile.  Jillian touched her and Casey jumped a little. Jillian noticed but decided to leave it alone, for now.

“Casey,” Jillian said in her most controlled tone. “I just noticed that you seem a little tense and I’m worried about you.  Is that ok?”

“Yes.  It is.  I’m sorry.  Look, I think I might just be nervous.  I’ve never seen so many of your family members.  It’s overwhelming.”  Jillian relaxed a bit, although she was unsure about Casey’s answer. “I think I need some air.”

“Would you like me to come with you?” Jillian asked softly.  Casey kissed her softly on the lips and headed toward the door.  Hilary Reece saw what was going on and went to her daughter.

“Jill, is everything ok?”  She asked hesitantly.

“I don’t know mom.  Something’s going on with Casey and I don’t know what it is.”  Jillian admitted.

“Well if you like we can go into the study and talk about it.”

“I‘d like that.”  Jillian said gratefully.

*****************************************************************

Casey barely made it to the porch when she noticed Morgan and her ‘friend’ Kimberly all over each other.  Morgan glanced up in just enough time to notice Casey turn and practically run in the opposite direction.

“Hey Kimberly, why don’t I meet you at your place in an hour.  We can finish our ummmm conversation there.”  Morgan said with a sly grin.

“Sounds good Morgan.  I’ll see you then.  Don’t be late.”  Kimberly said as she thoroughly kissed Morgan again.

“Mmmmm. I won’t.”  Morgan watched Kimberly as she sashayed to her car, got in and left.  Then she tracked down Casey.

“Having a good time in here?”  Asked Morgan when she found Casey in the boathouse.

“I was.  Was it a school night for your friend?”  Casey asked coldly.  Morgan didn’t respond.  “Why are you here Morgan?”

“I just came to see how you were doing Casey.  You haven’t said two words to me all night.”

“Shouldn’t that be a hint?”

“Look Casey, what happened between us was an accident.  There’s no need for us to be enemies.  Why are you having such a problem putting it behind you?”  Casey did not answer.  She had her back facing Morgan and her demeanor was taut.  Morgan stepped behind Casey and touched her on the shoulder.  “Casey?  Do you hear me?”

Casey turned to face defiantly with tears running down her face.  She stepped closer to Morgan before she spoke.

“Do you really want to know why I’m, having such a hard time with this?  Are you sure you’re ready?”  Casey said icily.

“I guess but Casey I…”

“Shut up and listen Morgan!”  Morgan was too stunned to do anything else. Casey gathered herself together and said softly.  “The reason I’m so angry is because I cannot, put that night behind me.  I’m not able to.  Do you know how many times I’ve thought about that night?  Not just because I cheated on Jillian, and not just because it was with you, her damn sister, but because it was the best night of my life.  Something about her…you.  I knew from the moment you saw me that you wanted me, desired me.  I felt the same way.”  Casey uttered the last at barely a whisper.

“But Casey, I know that Jillian feels…”

“No.  She doesn’t.  Not the same way.  Morgan I know Jillian loves me.  But I don’t feel the same sense of longing.  Not the way I did when I was with you.  Before I knew who you were, I had made up my mind that that night would be my last night with Jill.  That I would do what I had to do to end up with that woman.  Do you have any idea how fucked up it is to know that the women I really want to be with is my girlfriend’s sister.  So tell me Morgan.  What do you have to say about that?”

Morgan had no words for that.  She was thrown completely off guard and yet a part of her was ….happy?   Casey wasn’t the only one with mixed emotions about the whole thing.  Morgan remembered how she looked at Casey earlier today, her mind and her body were reacted strongly. That night with Casey was just unforgettable.

“Well I see that you have a lot to say on it.”  Casey said mockingly and turned to leave when Morgan didn’t respond.

“Casey wait.”  Morgan grabbed Casey’s arm and Casey pulled back.   She hurried to the door but Morgan stopped her.

“Casey I said wait!”  Morgan said heatedly.

“For what?”  Morgan didn’t speak.  She just brought her lips to Casey’s and held her tightly.  Casey resisted half-heartedly then gave in to the kiss.  It was just as she remembered it from that long ago night.  Morgan ran her hands over Casey’s back and through her long, wavy chestnut hair.  Her tongue slid deep inside of Casey’s mouth and pulled Casey’s tongue into her mouth.

Casey returned the kiss in kind, her hands gliding over Morgan’s ass as she pulled her closer.  Casey’s head was spinning and she was hot everywhere.  Morgan picked Casey up and laid her on a bench.  She stopped kissing Casey for a moment and asked, “Are you sure?”

Casey responded by running her fingers through Morgan’s flaming red hair and pulling her down for another searing kiss.  Morgan pulled off Casey’s blouse and took Casey‘s breast in her hands, kneading them roughly and then running her tongue in between them before letting her tongue trace her nipples through the satiny material.

Casey head tilted backward and she moaned as Morgan removed her bra completely and took an aching nipple into her mouth.  Morgan’s tongue flicked over Casey’s nipples alternating back and for the between each, then biting each before sucking one into her mouth as she pinched the other.

“Morgan, please, I need you.”  Morgan did not hesitate. She rose up a bit so that Casey could get her pants off.  Afterwards Morgan ran her hands over Casey’s legs as Casey spread them open.  Casey’s black g-string was the only thing separating her from what she wanted most.  However, instead of ripping it off, she moved it to the side and dove into Casey’s nether region.

Before Casey knew what was happening, Morgan had her mouth clamped onto Casey’s clit and was sucking ravenously.  Casey could hardly contain herself.  It took everything she had not to call Morgan’s name out loud.  Morgan could sense Casey’s dilemma but she didn’t let up.  Morgan brought her finger up to Casey‘s mouth where Casey pulled them deep into her mouth and licked them greedily.  Morgan then brought her hand down and slid two fingers into Casey’s hot pussy.

Casey screamed then.   She was in heaven.  Casey breathing became erratic and she began to ride Morgan’s fingers, all the while begging for more.  Morgan complied adding two more fingers into Casey’s hot slippery canal then hooked them inside Casey, massaging the small bundle of nerves that would send Casey over the edge.

Casey was just about to reach that point when the boathouse door creaked open.

“Oh God Morgan! Don’t stop!” Was the last thing Jillian heard before she went into a flying rage.

Suddenly Morgan felt a fist in her ribs and she heard Casey screaming.

“JILLIAN NO!!!!” Jillian pulled Morgan to her feet for another punch, this time to her face when Casey stepped in between her.

Jillian stopped just short of landing a blow that would knock Casey out cold and then let Morgan go.

She stared at the two blankly at first and then her face twisted up and left.

9

“Jillian?  What happened?”  Jefferson asked when he saw his daughter come back into the house.

“Dad.  I think you should ask Morgan and Casey.  I’m leaving.  I’ll be back for my things next week.”  With that Jillian stormed up the stairs packed her things and laid the engagement ring she got for Casey on her dresser.

Jillian was walking out of the door going towards her car when Casey called out to her.  Jillian turned to take one last look then got in her car and left.  Jillian called the airport and changed her flight so she could leave tonight.  Fortunately for her, the hotel could accommodate her request.  By noon tomorrow she would be in Colorado.  Alone..

*****************************************************************

Jillian made the whole trip from her parent’s lake house to the hotel without shedding a tear.  Once she tipped the bell hop and closed the door to her room, the tears didn’t stop coming for three days.  Casey and Morgan called her cell, but she ignored the both of them.  If she recognized their voices when she checked her messages, she deleted them.

Jillian was devastated.  She had no idea how something like this could have happened and she would never forget seeing Casey and Morgan, together.  She hadn’t been able to eat and sleep only brought nightmares.  But she knew she couldn’t live like this much longer.  She made the decision to go home early, this was something she would not run from.

************************************************************

Jillian arrived back at her parent’s lake house.  Her mother was home alone.  As soon as Jillian walked in the door her mother gave her a hug.  She never said a word but Jillian knew that her mother was aware of what happened.  Jillian started crying, again.

“It’s ok Jilly.  Everything’s ok.”  Her mother whispered the same in her ear over and over.  Jillian almost believed it.

“Mom, I need to go home.  I can’t stay here like this.”

“I know honey.  I’m just glad you came home.  Where were you?”

“In Colorado.  I went to the hotel where I was going to propose to Casey.  It wasn’t the same alone.”  Jillian stated mirthlessly.  She looked towards the steps.  “Where are they?”  She asked tightly.

“Morgan went back home.  I can only assume Casey did the same.  She’s been calling looking for you.  I take it you haven’t been answering your cell phone?”

“No.  I haven’t.  Who knows?”

“Just your father and I.  Morgan took Casey back to your place.  Everyone just assumed that you two were otherwise engaged.  Your father and I haven’t told anyone.”

“Thanks mom.”

“Jillian, Casey saw the engagement ring.  She took it with her.”

“That’s fine.  I bought it for her.  I wouldn’t give it to anyone else.”  Jillian stated dejectedly.  “Where is dad?”

“Hospital emergency.  He’s worried about you Jill.  Please call him when you get home.”

“I will mom. Don’t worry.”  Jillian leaned to give her mom another hug before going and packing up the rest of her things.  It was time to face home.

10

The drive back to Houston was uneventful.  Thankfully, Casey was not home when she arrived.  Jillian called her father and let him know that she was ok.  He respected the fact that she wasn‘t ready to talk about the situation at that time but was glad to know that she was safe at home.  She had just enough time to pull herself together and get some rest before Casey came home.

Casey noticed Jillian’s car when she pulled into the drive.  She was not prepared but bravely decided to face the music anyway.  She walked to the front door and took a few breaths before opening it.  Jillian was on the couch, waiting

“Hi Jill.”  Casey said evenly.  Jillian turned and waited for more.  “Jillian…” Casey started and shook her head.  She began wringing her hands and took a few steps back and forth.  Waiting to at least hear Jillian breathe.  Jillian didn’t move.  “…I’m sorry.  I know that it’s not enough, but I don’t know what to say.  I just..”

“Was this the first time?”  Jillian asked calmly.  Too calm for Casey’s liking.  But she decided that the truth would be her beast recourse now.

“No.”  Casey said softly. Jillian only raised an eyebrow.  Casey went on to explain about Halloween night two years ago.  The only change in Jillian’s eyes was that they became an icier shade of blue.  Finally, Jillian had heard enough.

“You mean to tell me, that the reason I’ve been walking on egg shells around you for the past month is because you cheated on me with a woman who turns out to be my sister.  And you realize that you what?  Love her?”

Jillian could hear her voice rising and she fought to get it back under control. She stood suddenly and Casey jumped back. Jillian threw her a disgusted glance.

“I remember that night clearly.  Do you know why.  Because I had plans to surprise you.  I left earlier than I thought I would be able to and was able to get us a room at a great hotel.  Of course you wouldn’t know that because you were too busy FUCKING MY GODDAMN SISTER!”  Jillian put her head in her hands then looked up.

“I want you out of here in two days.  That’s all I’m giving you to get out of my house.  Anything that’s left when I come back will be in the garbage.  I don’t care how you do it, or who helps you.  Your shit will be gone.  My stuff will still be here.  INTACT CASEY!  After today, I don‘t want to see you or hear from you.  Do you understand?  Before you say anything, just know that a nod will suffice.  Your voice sickens me.  Do you understand?”

Jillian waited for Casey to nod.  Casey could not stop the tears from streaming down her face.  But she nodded in response meekly.

“And Casey, that ring you found, is yours.  I wouldn‘t give it to anyone else.  It means as little to me now as you do.  I would hate for any woman I find now to end up with a whore’s souvenir.”

“Fuck you Jillian! You have no right…..”  Casey didn’t have a chance to finish before Jillian had her pinned against the wall, fire blazing from her eyes.

“You have two days.  You’d better hurry.” With that, Jillian let Casey go then turned and walked out the door..

******************************************************************

Jillian arrived at her house three days later. Making sure she gave Casey enough to get all of her belongings out of the house.  Casey‘s keys were on the mantle and the place seemed emptier now, larger.  She made a call.

“Hi Jennifer how are you?” Jennifer was her real estate agent and a good friend.

“I’m great stranger.  How about you?  Still enjoying your place?”

“It’s nice, but I need a change.  Something a little smaller but the same amenities. I’m a party of one again.”

“I’m sorry to hear that Jill.”  Jennifer said sincerely.  “Do you want to talk about it first, before you make a decision like that?”

“No Jenn, I’m just ready to go.  But thanks for the offer.  Let me know what you can get for the place and then what you have available.”

“Not a problem.  Give me a few weeks and I’ll call you, Ok?”

“Sounds good.  Talk to you soon then.”  Jillian hung up the phone and curled up on her sofa.  She cried herself to sleep.  She had been looking forward to starting a new future.  This wasn’t the outcome she had in mind.  Now she just had to see what the fates had in store for her.  She only hoped it would be better than this.

The End
