Part 1
“I don’t understand why The Guardian had to bring home that…that human.” The tall Amazon warrior stated as she drank the blood red liquid from the heated cup held in her hands. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes as the warm, sweet fluid flowed down her throat and coated the lining of her stomach.
She felt her pulses quicken as the serum entered her arteries and surged toward her heart. Her muscles bunched and knotted as her body transformed the drink into new energy within her. She opened her eyes which were now metamorphosed to a silvery glow making her vision sharper and more photosensitive to see at night. Her facial features tightened until the skin molded over her cheekbones, giving her a feral appearance. Her lips thinned and her eye teeth grew until their sharp points could be seen peeking over her bottom lip.
Her tongue slipped out and ran slowly around her still moist lips, savoring the final drops of blood that she had drunk. She gently sat the goblet down before turning to the other woman in the chamber with her.
“Leave it alone, Lillith. Claire knows what she is doing. Remember she always keeps the needs of The Clan first. This woman, Gwenn, must have something special for The Guardian to have chosen her as her companion after so many years.”
“More like she was finally ready for sex. She has been without for many years and you know one can go only so long before the itch rises up and becomes a burning flame. I would have loved to douse The Guardian’s flame. We are brethren and I know I would have been able to appease her needs. And well too, if I may say so.”
“Lillith, you know you can’t mate with one of your own. It will infect The Clan blood and we’ll die out from the cross contamination.”
“Yeah, yeah….maybe I should just take this “Gwenn” for myself and see what all the excitement is about.”
“Leave it, Lillith if you value your life. The Guardian is not one to share and she’ll eliminate you without a second thought if you cross her or The Clan.”
“We’ll see…. I have some hunting to do before dawn. Raven, I’ll see you later.” Lillith turned toward the outer door. Even with her great muscular build, she seemed to float out of the door as she disappeared into the darkness of the new night.
Lillith stood in the shadows as the tavern emptied its inhabitants out into the gloom as the owners attempted to lock up for the night. She watched the men and women staggering drunkenly toward their homes from her cover beneath the stairway. Minutes passed slowly as once more the night became quiet. Finally one lone female figure exited the building as lights were doused behind her. She looked young to Lillith’s experienced eyes but she wouldn’t know for sure until they were closer together.
As the woman neared the hide-a-way, Lillith’s gaze ran over her body. She was able to see the woman just as if it were daylight. She saw the blondness of her braided hair and the fullness of her chest. The woman’s top was cut low and the top button was open, exposing the soft pink vee of her breasts. Lillith licked her lips as she thought about her tongue grazing across the pink peaks followed by the soft prick of her teeth into the tender tissue. She could almost taste the sweet, warm blood that would trickle into her mouth, as she suckled more human nectar for her own life blood.
The young woman shivered and glanced quickly around. She felt as if someone was watching her but she was not able to see anyone in the area. She crossed her arms over her chest as she neared the alley. She paused at its entrance and looked deeply into the darkness but still saw nothing. She stepped off the edge and quickly rushed to the other side. There was movement behind her but once more she didn’t see anyone over her shoulder. Lifting her skirt above her ankles, she rushed on down the street, rushing toward her home.
Part 2
Lillith glided out from under the stairs with the full intention to follow the young woman. She wanted to take her, to feel her own blood boil and rise to fever pitch. Turning toward the street she began to move toward the woman.
Suddenly, Lillith’s
movements were halted. She turned abruptly to see what or who would have dared
interfere with her pleasure.
“What the hell…..” Lillith began as she looked at
the hands that grabbed her shoulder and spun her around.
“Don’t touch her.” The Guardian raged mentally sending her message directly into Lillith’s brain.
“Leave me alone.” Lillith raged back as she tried to shake off the fingers drilling into her flesh.
“You touch her and I’ll dispose of you.” The Guardian stated through clinched teeth. “I’ll kill you before I let you infect the rest of The Clan.”
“Listen to the cat call the kettle black. You bitch, you fucked a human last night.” Lillith hissed through pressed lips as she reached up and slapped The Guardian’s hand from her shoulder.
Leaning into Lillith’s face, Claire narrowed her eyes and spoke in a deadly quiet voice, “Don’t you dare question my decisions.”
“Back up and leave me alone.” Lillith said as she reached out and pushed The Guardian backward. She was taller and more muscular than Claire.
The Guardian bristled as her ire heightened. She pulled back her shoulders and shook her cape to the side as her fingers slid over the handle of her shining silver sword. Her eyes darkened to midnight blue and narrowed to near pinpoints as she watched Lillith flexing her muscles and reaching for her own weapon.
“I’ll not see you destroy The Clan by taking one of them out of spite. You have had your blood fill tonight and there is nothing left that you need.” The Guardian stated clearly as she remained focused on Lillith.
“Oh…and it is alright for you to take whomever you want?” Lillith slowly circled to The Guardian’s left, hoping to block her from drawing out her sword until she herself was in a good offensive position. She grasped the head of her sword and quickly pulled it from its scabbard.
“You don’t understand. She is nearly one of us and with a few more transfusions she’ll be the new leader of the Clan.” The Guardian stated as she countered Lillith’s move by one of her own. The bright silver of her sword nearly blinded Lillith as it was pulled from its sheath.
“YOU would bring in a stranger to lead us when you have many successors to choose from? Hell, I have been groomed to lead since I was a small child.” Lillith answered with scorn.
“Lillith, you have been trained to guard and protect me and The Clan, not to lead them.”
“It is one and the same. You should have chosen from within The Clan.” Lillith hissed as she lunged forward and jabbed her sword toward The Guardian’s chest.
The Guardian easily deflected the sword with her own weapon as the sound of metal clanged through the black night.
“I can’t bring new blood into The Clan if we continue to mate only with our own. You know that, as does every member of the tribe. It has taken years for The Chosen One to be in our presence. I can’t ignore her. We don’t have many years left if we don’t have new breeders.”
“I want her too.” Lillith stated as she pivoted on her heels while raising her sword high over her head. As she spun around she swept the sword in a wide arch, using all her body strength to swing the edge of the blade into The Guardian’s side.
The sword hit The Guardian and fluid began to pour from the wound. Its clear luster shone as it seeped down her pant leg to pool on the ground.
The Guardian stepped backward as Lillith grinned at the massive damage she had managed to inflict.
“Do you think this little cut is going to protect you from my wraith?" The Guardian stood tall, her sword held out in front of her. She glanced down at the gaping hole in her side as watched as the skin rapidly closed back up and sealed shut in seconds.
"Bring it on," Lillith mocked, cocky with the blow she had just inflicted.
"Don’t push me, Lillith. You’ll not win this time."
"Or maybe you’ll lose. Do you fear me enough that you won’t fight me." Lillith taunted further. "After I am done with you, I plan on taking Gwenn for myself before passing her to the others."
"You touch one part of her body and you’ll be a dead woman. She is nearly one of us and any physical contact you have with her will be your death."
"You’ll say anything to keep her to yourself. For centuries you have forbid us to mate with the Outsiders yet you bring one into our fortress and into your very bed." Lillith spit on the ground at The Guardian’s feet before springing forward again with her sword swinging in a tight loop.
The Guardian lifted her weapon and countered the blow. Her silver sword snapped Lillith’s blade in half.
Both women watched as the blade fell almost in slow motion to land on the dirt beneath their feet.
Lillith dropped what was left of her sword as she stood sneeringly in front of The Guardian. She lifted her head and grinned a mocking smile as she said, “Come get me, you bitch.”
The Guardian stared hard at Lillith as she slowly shook her head. It didn’t have to come to this. Her body began to change as her litheness gave way to an Amazonian figure even bigger than Lillith’s.
Lillith fell to her knees as she realized the challenge was over and so was her life. She looked up and stared directly into The Guardian’s face as the tip of the huge silver sword drove into her heart.
There was no pain, just a blinding flash of light from inside out before Lillith body collapsed.
The Guardian pulled back her sword as she said, "You live by blood and blood alone, you die for love. When you fight to destroy The Clan, you destroy yourself.”
The Guardian watched the limp body in front of her begin to dissipate until there was nothing left but a slight smudging mark in the dirt. A single blood red tear trickled from her eye as she observed Lillith turn to dust before her eyes. She re-sheathed her sword as her body began to return to it normal slender look. She pulled her cloak around her before once more changing shapes and flying off into the night.
“One more clan member gone, yet new life awaits me at home. Gwenn will replenish our tribe and we’ll live forever.” Nodding her head The Guardian faded from sight.
The alley was quiet and no sign of a struggle could be detected. Silence fell as all living creatures skirted the dark passage. The moon finally came out from behind the fast moving clouds and no human dared venture out after dark.
