Part 4

"They should be home any time now," Joe informed Jay who had just walked down the stairs.

"Thanks again for doing this," Jay walked up to Joe who was looking our the window next to the front door.

"No problem, since you getting that was sorta a little bit my fault." Joe smiled. "It doesn't look so bad now."

"Sure it doesn't," Jay nudged Joe in the ribs. "My face always looked good with a big purple and blue bruise."

"I say it gives you character," Joe teased as he noticed the limo pull up. "They're here."

"Oh shit, she's going to kill me." Jay mumbled as she went to the living room for a quick drink.

"I'll protect you," Joe yelled.

"Like you could. I beat the crap out of you and I'm way smaller than you." Jay bellowed back.

Joe nodded his head, "true, but you surprised me. This time I know it will be coming."

Joe turned around when the door opened and his wife and daughter walked in. "Well hello you two. How was your day?"

Cindi and Jordan stopped and looked from one another to the grinning man in front of them.

"What's wrong?" Cindi asked suspiciously.

Joe shrugged his shoulders, "what makes you think something is wrong?"

"I've been married to you for a long time and I know you so well, so spill it." Cindi ordered.

"Well, there was kind of a little accident," Joe scrunched his face.

"What happened?" Jordan asked, "and where is Jay?"

Jay walked into the room and took a deep breath, "I'm right here." She gave the two women a small wave.

"Oh my, what happened to your eye." Jordan questioned as she walked over to Jay.

Jay pointed at Joe, "it's all his fault."

*****

"I can't believe it." Jordan paced back and forth.

Jay sat on the bed with her head lowered, "what was I supposed to do?"

Jordan stopped and looked at Jay, "saying no comes to my mind."

"True," Jay agreed. "I seem to be saying this a lot since we've been here, but I'll say it again. I'm sorry."

"You know sometimes sorry isn't good enough." Jordan fumed and began to pace again. "You know I think I need to take a bath and be alone for awhile." She walked off not even looking at the shocked expression on Jay's face.

"Okay," Jay said to Jordan's back as the bathroom door closed. "I really screwed up."

Jay stood and walked to the bathroom door and ran her hand over the dark wood. She took a deep breath, "I'm sorry……again." She walked out of the room and down the stairs.

"Still mad is she?" Joe asked when he saw Jay.

Jay just nodded her head.

""Sorry about all this," Joe replied sincerely as he gave Jay a hug. "She'll calm down."

"Hope so," Jay mumbled and walked into the living room plopping on the couch. "So where are you taking the misses?"

"Well, she's pretty mad at me too, so I was thinking about this new expensive restaurant that we heard about."

Jay sat up and thought out loud, "maybe I should do something like that." She looked at Joe, "do they deliver?"

"Only one way to find out," Joe grabbed his cell phone..

Jay smiled up at him as she waited until he was done on the phone.

"They said that they could have a fantastic dinner for two here in an hour." Joe informed Jay as he hung up. "Plus this is all on me, because it is mostly my fault she's mad at you."

"You're right and thanks," Jay agreed and stood to shake Joe's hand. "Now I have to get some other things ready."

Joe watched Jay head of to the kitchen. "Daughter you sure have got a good one. Don't stay to mad at her."

"What are you doing?" Cindi asked her husband as she walked into the room.

Joe leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her lips, "making things right with our two daughters."

"Good for you. Now take me to dinner." Cindi ordered and grabbed Joe's hand.

"Yes dear, lets go," Joe followed his wife out of the room and out the door.

Jordan stayed in the tub thinking about what happened and realized that she acted a little too hard on Jay.

"Jay, honey?" Jordan said as she stepped out of the bathroom drying herself off.

"She must think I'm a bitch," Jordan muttered as she reached for her robe that laid on the bed.

Jordan noticed a folded white piece of paper with her name on it sitting on top of her dresser. She walked over and flipped it open.

You are my heart.
You are my soul.
Please forgive me.

Love, Jay
Please met me down stairs.

"I wonder what this is all about?" Jordan asked as she walked out of the room and down the stairs.

*****

"Okay, everything looks good." Jay said as she rearranged the dozen roses she had picked out of the garden.

"Oh, my," Jordan gasped as she walked into her dining room. "This looks wonderful." She looked up at Jay and noticed the tight black jeans with a light green silk shirt. "You look wonderful."

"Thanks, I wanted to do something special for you." Jay smiled as stepped up to Jordan and placed a soft kiss on her lips. "Still mad at me?"

"No, and I'm sorry for acting like a bitch." Jordan brought Jay closer so she could give her a hug.

Jay shook her head, "let's forget all about today and think about tonight." She hooked her arm around Jordan's waist and guided her to sit in one of the two chairs that were at the table. "I like this." Jay whispered in Jordan's ear as she caressed the silky material of the robe.

"I could always go even more casual," Jordan teased as she loosened the robes ties.

"If you did, no way in hell would we even get a chance to eat this wonderful meal." Jay replied as she lifted the lids that covered the plates.

"Wow, where did this come from?" Jordan asked as she gazed over all the delicious looking food.

Jay sat down across from Jordan, "what makes you think I didn't cook this?'

"Jay, you yourself told me about the sandwiches you made Marge," Jordan offered with a grin.

"Oh, that's right," Jay laughed. "If you must know, your dad ordered this in."

"Trying to get on my good side is he?" Jordan took a bite of the salmon and rolled her eyes in pure pleasure. "This is good."

"Mmm, it is," Jay agreed as she took a bite.

*****

"Damn it, sometimes this job sucks." Jacob cursed as he slapped at a bug that buzzed by his ear.

Jacob continued to crawl through the bushes getting poked every once in awhile by a twig or a thorn. He wanted to see what was going on in the house, because he had seen the delivery car bring in all the packages for a romantic dinner for two.

With a quick move he looked up through the window to see the two women sitting eating dinner, "oh, how lovely." He raised his video camera and pressed record, "this is better than pictures."

*****

"Are you ready for dessert?" Jay asked as she stood up and gathered their plates.

"That would be great," Jordan replied as she sipped her wine. "Do you want me to help at all?"

Jay shook her head, "no, you stay right where you are." She kissed Jordan's head as she walked by. "Love you."

"Love you too," Jordan waited until Jay was in the kitchen before she took off up the stairs. "I can't believe I forgot about the necklace."

In her room she searched around for her purse, "Where did I put that damn thing."

"Jordan, you up there?" Jay shouted up the stairs.

"I'll be down in a second," Jordan yelled back as she spotted her purse hanging on a hook behind the bedroom door. "Gotcha!"

"If you don't hurry I'm going to eat your dessert along with mine." Jay stated as she walked back to the table. "I love strawberry short cake."

"Me too, so don't touch," Jordan took a deep breath as she walked in the room. "First I want to give you something."

Jay turned and looked at Jordan with raised eyebrows, "something for me?"

"Yes, something for you." Jordan grabbed her chair and sat down next to Jay.

"What did you do?" Jay questioned softly.

Jordan smiled and reached for Jay's hand. "You gave me something that connects me to your family. I wanted to get you something that could show you that I love you as much as you love me. I asked my mom to help me go and pick something out, but she had a better idea."

Jay watched Jordan bring her hand up dangling a gold necklace with a pendant attached to it. "The colors matches our eyes."

"Yes, they do. My mom says that this necklace has been passed down from one generation to the next. Mom says that it was time she gave it to me so I could give it to you." Jordan stood and unclasped the chain. "When the time is right you will give it to our own daughter." She walked around and placed the necklace around Jay's neck.

Tears ran down Jay's cheeks and she lightly touched the pendant. "I will cherish it until that time."

Jordan placed a tender kiss where the necklace rested on Jay's neck. "You are my heart . You are my soul. Forever I'll love you."

"I like that," Jay moaned when lips once again touched her neck.

"Stole some of it from a very good poet." Jordan whispered softly into Jay's ear.

"You should pay her some sort of royalties," Jay responded as she stood up and turned to Jordan. "Will you do me the honor of dancing with me?"

"I would be happy to," Jordan stepped up and wrapped her arms around Jay's neck.

"Don't you want any music?" Jay asked before she kissed Jordan's long neck.

Jordan turned her face so that Jay would kiss her lips, "I think we can make our own music."

"Mmmhmm," Jay mumbled around Jordan's lips.

*****

"This is getting good," Jacob smiled as he zoomed in on the happy couple. "These two are money in the bank."

Jacob nearly bumped the camera into the window when Jay untied Jordan's robe so she could let it fall to the ground. "Why are the good looking ones taken?"

He sat there for a few more minutes with the camera rolling until he was sure that he had enough. "Okay time to go," Jacob placed a kiss on his hand and then rested it on the window, "thanks you two for a lovely evening."

*****

"Thanks for dinner, but you're still in trouble." Cindi teased as Joe pulled the car into the driveway.

"You're welcome," Joe responded as he turned off the engine. "I hope Jay had more luck with her dinner than I did with mine."

Cindi looked over at her husband and smiled, "maybe you're not in that much trouble." She leaned over and placed a kiss on Joe's check, "that was sweet of you to have dinner sent over."

"I had to help the poor girl. She looked so lost when she came down stairs." Joe opened his door and walked around to help his wife out. "I think Jordan has found her match."

"I can't wait to see how the boys react to her," Cindi laughed softly.

Joe grimaced with that thought, "poor Jay. Those two won't leave her alone for a second."

"Not to worry, Jordan will stop them from acting like the over protective brothers that they are." Cindi stated with confidence.

"Here you go dear," Joe opened the front door and stepped aside so Cindi could step through.

"You are always a gentlemen," Cindi ran a finger across Joe's chest.

Joe smiled, "always for you my love."

"Why don't we go and have a night cap?" Cindi suggested as she dropped her coat and purse on the table near the front door.

"Good idea, why don't you go pour I will be back in a second," Joe kissed his wife softly on the cheeck and headed upstairs.

"Hurry back," Cindi called up to him as she headed towards the living room. She turned the corner and stopped dead in her tracks. "Good evening girls."

"Oh shit," Jay mumbled as she turned around making sure she stayed in front of a naked Jordan.

Jordan raised her hand a waved at her mom, "hi, Mom. You're home early."

Cindi shook her head, "not really, we've been gone for three hours."

Jay used her foot to push Jordan her robe, "so how was dinner?"

"Not as revealing as yours is, but give me time," Cindi winked at Jay as she walked over to the small bar in the corner. "I'll just grab a couple of glasses and be on my way."

"Okay, we'll be heading up to bed now," Jordan grabbed Jay's hand and tugged her to the stairs.

"Night girls," Cindi said with a laugh.

"Night," Jay and Jordan responded back as they ran up the stairs.

*****

"I can't believe your Mom caught us," Jay sighed as she sat on the bed. "I'm very glad your dad wasn't with her."

"Now that would have been funny," Jordan giggled and fell on the bed next to Jay.

"You know since we've been here I have embarrassed myself in front of your family at least a dozen times." Jay pouted. "The thing is it's just been your parents. What am I going to do when your brothers come for a visit."

Jordan pulled Jay down to lay next to her, "you just think that you're doing embarrassing things, honey," Jordan moved closer so she could place soft kisses on Jay's neck.

"So you're telling me that attacking your father on the first day or when I walked in on your mom when she was in the shower wasn't anything to be embarrassed about?" Jay shivered as fingers started to unbutton her shirt.

"Mom should have locked the door, and Dad is quite proud of you. Protecting me and all." Jordan ran her hand across Jay's stomach. "Baby?"

"Yes," Jay moaned when hands caressed one of her breasts through her bra.

"No more talking about my parents," Jordan ordered as she crawled up on top of Jay's body.

"Wait until you see what I have," Jacob beamed as he walked into Jasmine's office the next morning.

"What did you get?" Jasmine asked before she took a drink of her morning coffee.

Jacob tossed a tape on her desk, "put that on and see."

Jasmine sat her cup down and grabbed the tape, "this must be good with that smile your flashing this early in the morning." She walked over to the television and VCR combination and loaded the tape.

As the picture began to form of Jordan and Jay a big smile formed on the oriental woman's face.

"I see you like it as much as I do," Jacob nodded his head as he rubbed his hands together. "I want you to get this on every tabloid show on TV."

Jasmine didn't even take her eyes off the screen in front of her, "you might get in a lot of trouble for this you know."

"I don't give a shit," Jacob stood and began to pace, "I just want this to be the biggest payday anyone in the business has ever had."

"I have no doubt about the amount of money you'll get," Jasmine shut off the VCR and ejected the tape, "but the proves that you were on private property invading their privacy."

"Since when did I give a shit about that?" Jacob glared at the small woman. "I do what I have to do to get the job done. If they don't like it then damn it they should stay out of the lime light."

"You don't have to jump down my throat. I'm in the same business as you remember?" Jasmine sat back down in her chair and grabbed her cup. "You better just watch your back."

"Sorry and I will," Jacob yawned. "I'm heading home to get some sleep. See ya later."

"Bye," Jasmine waved then set her cup down and picked up the tape. "I have a feeling this is going to back fire on you my friend."

"Hi Marge," Jay said into the phone. "How are things back there?"

""I'm fine thank you for asking," Marge teased as she sat down on a kitchen chair.

Jay laughed, "I did say hi first."

"Yes you did so I forgive you and the ranch is just fine," Marge informed Jay. "Jimmy will be very disappointed he missed your call."

"Well I'll make it up to him. I bought him a pair of those red swim trunks that match those guys on the on show he loves to watch." Jay tugged on Jordan's shirt sleeve. "Say hi"

"Hi Marge," Jordan yelled then planted a kiss on Jay's cheek.

"Hi Jordan," Marge laughed back. "What have the two of you been up too?"

"Not to much in the last couple of days. Jordan has been doing a bunch of press junkets." Jay smiled when Jordan handed her a can of diet Dr. Pepper.

"I heard about those, sound pretty boring." Marge stated as she swatted a fly that buzzed past her. "When will you be coming home?"

"Hold on I'll ask?" Jay turned to Jordan who was about to take a bite out of her sandwich. "when do you think we'll be heading home?"

Jordan grinned, "I like the sound of that."

"Of what?" Jay asked confused.

"Home," Jordan sighed.

"I like that too," Jay leaned over and kissed Jordan.

Marge who heard everything just smiled and drank her ice tea. She started to hear moans and other thing she shouldn't be hearing she yelled, "Jay would you leave your woman alone for two seconds."

"Jay," Jordan mumbled between kisses.

"Yes," Jay kissed Jordan again.

"Marge," Jordan groaned as a hand caressed her thigh.

"What about her?" Jay continued to explore Jordan's neck.

"Phone, she's on the phone," Jordan muttered as she pushed Jay back and pointed to the object in Jay's hand. "Phone."

Jay looked down and blushed, "sorry Marge."

"Don't worry about it. Now when do you think you'll be home?" Marge asked again killing another obnoxious fly. "Gotcha you little bugger.

Jay raised her eyebrows at Jordan, "home, when?"

Jordan thought for s second, "I'm thinking sometime next week."

"Next week sometime, Marge." Jay relayed to Marge.

"Okay, just let me know," Marge glanced up at the clock. "I have to let you go. Luke will be here in a little bit for dinner."

"So I guess you are finally making your moves on our town sheriff?" Jay winked at Jordan who had her eyebrows raised.

"You bet your sweet ass." Marge laughed "I'll talk to you later and make sure you stay out of trouble."

"I'll do my best. Bye and I love you," Jay said as she stole a chip from Jordan's plate.

"Love you too, and bye," Marge hung up and took a deep breath. "Time to get ready for my date." She stood up and walked over to make sure dinner was cooking before she headed for her bedroom to put on that new dress she bought.

*****

"This is nice," Jay mused as she pushed in Jordan's chair.

"It's my brother's favorite. So every time they come for a visit I take them here." Jordan said before she took a sip of her water.

"Waiter," Jay waved the man over. "I need a double scotch and she will have a white wine, thanks."

"Would you calm down," Jordan patted the seat next to her. "Sit down, everything will be fine. They'll love you."

"At least I won't make an ass out of myself here in a crowded restaurant." Jay sat down and glanced around the room.

Jordan reached over and held her hand. She felt the slight tremor so she ran her thumb across her palm, "look at me."

Jay turned her head, "I'm being a brat."

"No, honey, you're reacting like everyone who has ever had to meet their lovers family." Jordan brought Jay's hand to her mouth and placed a tender kiss to her knuckles. "I'm going to be right here for you so please calm down."

"Okay," Jay answered as she got lost in the soft blue eyes that held her soul. "I love you."

"And I love you," Jordan responded in a soft whisper.

The two didn't even notice when Lance and Garrett took there seat next to them.

"Nice to be noticed," Lance said as he took a drink from his sister's water.

Garrett shrugged his shoulders, "love, it does strange things to you."

They sat there for a few more seconds waiting.

"Should I?" Lance gestured towards the glass that was half full.

"By all means," Garrett sat back and watched as brother very carefully tipped the water so it would splash over Jordan and Jay's entwined hands.

"What the hell?" Jay jumped up when she felt the cold water hit her skin. She looked over at the two grinning men. "Are you two nuts?"

"We could be," Garrett teased with a chuckle.

"That wasn't nice," Jordan crossed her arms over her chest. "Apologize."

"We're sorry," The two brother said with a smirk.

"That's better, now give me a hug," Jordan laughed and held out her arms.

Jay watched as the two big men picked their sister up and hugged her. They didn't care that the whole restaurant stopped and watched.

"Guys, I want you to meet Jay Krammer," Jordan said after she was put back on her feet.

"Hi, I'm Lance and that bonehead over there is Garrett," Lance stepped over to shake Jay's hand. "You're smaller than I pictured"

"Why would you say that?" Jay questioned as she shook the hand offered to her.

"Well considering that Dad is about one hundred pounds heavier than you and you took him down. I just figured you to be a bigger person." Lance replied before he took his seat.

"Oh God, he told you," Jay lowered her head shaking it back and forth.

"No actually Mom did, I don't think I've heard her laugh that hard in years," Garrett stepped up and offered his hand. "Nice to finally meet the woman who stole our sister's heart."

"Nice to meet you too," Jay glanced over to Jordan, "I'm going to go to the bathroom."

"Do you want me to go with you?" Jordan asked.

"No, stay and talk to your brothers." Jay bent down and gave Jordan a soft kiss, "I'll be right back."

"Okay," Jordan watched as Jay walked over to the waiter.

"I like her," Garrett said before he reached over and stole Jay's drink. "I like what she drinks too."

"Please don't tease her to much guys. She's really nervous." Jordan begged.

Lance looked at Garrett and Garrett looked at Lance, they both nodded their heads, "okay, just for tonight. After that we get to tease and torture her about the pictures we saw in that magazine." Lance answered with an evil grin.

*****

"I hope I make it through the night," Jay thought as she washed her hands. She turned off the water and grabbed a paper towel. "I'll just order another drink and be as quiet as I can."

Jay tossed the wet paper away and walked out of the restroom. She looked around and decided to stop for a fresh drink.

"I'll have a double scotch," Jay ordered when the bartender walked up to her.

"Be right back," he said before he walked off.

Jay sat on the stool and looked around at all the people. She noticed that everyone looked perfect. "I wonder if the amount of money these people have spent to look perfect would support a small third world country?"

The sound from the TV caught her attention. It was some blonde reporter talking about some star being caught on video in a private moment. "Wonder who…." Jay stopped talking when she saw Jordan walking around in her silk robe. "I'm going to kill that asshole."

Jay stormed around the bar and shut it off.

"What do you think your doing?" The bartender asked as he tried to turn it back on.

"Leave it off." Jay yelled as she fought with the guy.

The bartender wrapped his arms around Jay and threw her over the bar knocking over several stools. "Get out of here before I call the cops."

"Just leave the TV off," Jay ordered as she kicked a stool out of her way and headed over to where Jordan sat with her brothers.

"Jay what's wrong?" Jordan asked when she saw Jay storm over to the table.

"I want to know how to find out where this Jacob Trainer is at?" Jay fumed as she sat down on her chair.

"Why?" Jordan questioned.

"Last night when we were having dinner," Jay started to say but she was stopped when two sets of hands grabbed her out of her seat.

"You are out of here," the man said to Jay as they guided her towards the door.

"What's going on?" Lance jumped up to stop the men.

"She caused some trouble over at the bar," one man said as he tried to hold a struggling Jay still.

"All she did was go to the bathroom," Jordan said as she followed the group out the door.

"No she ran behind the bar and fought with the bartender," the first man informed the three before him and the other guy tossed Jay to the ground. "I wouldn't come back anytime soon."

"No way in hell would I ever step in your place again," Jay yelled back as she stood up and wiped the dirt off her pants.

"Jay would you please tell me what in the hell is going on here?" Jordan walked up to Jay and grabbed her by her shoulders.

"You want to know what's going on? I'll tell you." Jay took a deep breath, "last night while we were having a nice romantic evening alone. We weren't alone. That scum bag Jacob Trainer taped the whole evening."

"What!?" Jordan asked stunned. "You mean he taped me and you dancing around our living room."

"Yes," Jay replied, "I want to know where this guy is at."

"We could help you with that," Lance stated with a grin as he draped his arm over Garrett's shoulders. "We are cops and I know a few people that owe me a favor."

"When can you get this information?" Jay asked as she walked up to the two men.

"Give me a few days," Lance said with a smile. "It's about time that guy got his world rocked."

"I'm the one who's gonna do it too," Jay stated with glee.

"Promise me you won't do anything illegal." Jordan begged as they started to walk to their cars.

"Not to worry," Garrett replied, "we don't have to break the law to get this guy."

*****

Jordan laid there and watched Jay sleep. "Love you," she whispered before she quietly got out of bed. She stood there and watched as Jay's hand searched for the absent body, "she's so cute." Jordan carefully moved her pillow so that Jay had something to hang on to.

Jordan silently put on a pair of sweet pants and a t-shirt before she opened the door and headed down to the kitchen. "What am I going to do about Jacob Trainer. I don't want Jay to do anything and get into trouble."

"You know talking to yourself is a good sign of insanity," Lance said from the kitchen table.

"Damn it, you scared me. What are you doing up?" Jordan asked as she walked to the refrigerator for something to eat.

Lanced laughed, "sorry, and I was kind of hungry." He took a healthy bit of his sandwich. "what has you up at this hour?"

"Same as you, plus I'm kind of worried that Jay is going to go ballistic if she ever does meet Jacob Trainer." Jordan confessed. "Where did you get the lunch meat?"

"Bottom shelf," Lance mumbled around his bite.

"Thanks," Jordan found the ham and then grabbed the cheese.

"Your welcome, and don't worry about Jay. Garrett and I will make sure she's doesn't get into trouble." Lance stood up and walked over to get Jordan a glass. "Milk?"

"Thanks," Jordan nodded her head as she made her snack. "What do you three have planned anyway?"

"Well, I want to see what kind of history this jerk has." Lance poured Jordan a glass from the gallon that sat at the table. "Then Garrett has some friends at the local electric company."

"You are not going to have his electricity shut off?" Jordan laughed when Lance nodded his head. "Too funny."

"We thought so," Garrett agreed as he walked in.

"What are you doing up?" Jordan looked at her brother with a smile.

"Same as you two, hungry." Garrett stepped over to her sister and kissed the top of her head. "How's Jay?"

"Okay, I guess." Jordan shrugged her shoulders. "I'm just worried about her. Since I've met her she's been hurt in a fire, and shot in the shoulder. I wanted her to have a nice quiet vacation away from all the shit, but is it quiet here?"
"No," Jay mumbled from the hallway, "but this is better then getting shot any day."

"Honey, you were sleeping when I left." Jordan walked over to Jay and gave her a soft kiss.

"I woke up the minute you shut the door. Thought you'd be back, so when you didn't I came looking." Jay said as she let Jordan guide her to sit down at the table. "Hi guys."

"Hi," Lance and Garret responded.

"Want a sandwich?" Garrett asked as he held up two slices of bread.

"Sure, thanks," Jay smiled over at the tall man.

"I'm going to get ahold of my attorney and get a restraining order against Trainer. Then call and have a better security system installed." Jordan informed the group as she sat down with her sandwich. "Might even get a big dog."

"That's a good idea," Lance nodded his head. "I know a guy who knows all about what systems are the best. I'll call him tomorrow."

"Good, thanks," Jordan smiled over at her brother.

*****

"Hi, Mary" Jordan said to her friend when she opened the door.

Mary marched in, "why didn't you call and tell me what happened. When I get my hands on that snake I'll beat him with in an inch of his life."

"Can I watch?" Jordan giggled at the animated woman.

"This is not funny. He's this close to stalking you and Jay with that damn camera of his." Mary yelled, "what are we going to do about it?"

"I called my lawyer. He's having a restraining order put out against him." Jordan walked into the kitchen, "coffee?"

"Yes, please," Mary began to pace. "You know guys like that won't let a small piece of paper stop him from getting what he wants."

"I know," Jordan agreed. "That's why Jay and my brothers are going to make his life a living hell until he stops."

Mary stopped and gave an evil grin to Jordan, "what are they going to do?"

"Just shut off his electricity and have him pulled over when ever he gets into his car. Plus they are having his record checked for any little thing they can have him arrested on." Jordan motioned Mary over to the table. "I just hope they don't get into trouble doing this."

"If I know your brothers they are going to make sure that it won't be traced back to them." Mary sipped her coffee. "Where is Jay?"

"She's out side with the security system guys." Jordan shook her head. "She's making sure that they don't miss anything."

"Good for her. I bet this has really gotten under her skin." Mary grabbed a muffin that sat on a plate in the middle of the table.

"You have no idea," Jordan frowned.

Mary patted Jordan's hand, "everything will be okay. You only have a little over a week and then you can get your butts back to the ranch."

"Like that's any quieter." Jordan laughed. "If it's not one thing it a million others."

"At least you can't say that your life is dull," Mary pointed out with a smirk.

Jordan stood and walked over to the coffee pot, "true, but I would like, ohh, I don't know a week or two of nothing but peace and quiet."

"Take Jay on trip," Mary suggested as she stuffed the last of her muffin in her mouth.

"Can't she has to get back and run the ranch. Maybe I can talk her into it after the wedding." Jordan brought the pot of coffee over to the table and refilled Mary's cup.

"Hi, Mary," Jay said as she walked into the house. "It looks like everything is set for the new security system."

"Great, did you get them to go about twenty miles out to the ocean with their sensors." Jordan teased the small blonde.

"Nooo, funny girl," Jay grabbed Jordan's cup and took a drink.

"That's mine," Jordan reached up and took her cup back.

"I though what was yours was mine and what was mine is yours," Jay asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Not when I really need my coffee," Jordan winked. "But you can have what ever else you want."

"Oh baby," Jay waved her hand in front of her face. "You make me so hot."

Mary laughed, "you two are a riot."

Jay looked over at Mary, "so did you get you some?"

"Shit," Mary spat, "I wouldn't know a penis if it jumped out and rubbed itself on my leg."

"Not bitter are we?" Jordan questioned casually.

"Me bitter?" Mary pointed at herself, "hell yes, I'm bitter."

The phone rang and Jay walked over to answer it, "Martin residence, Jay speaking."

"Hi, honey." Marge said.

"Hey Marge, what's up?" Jay asked as she reached for her own cup.

"Well, you'll never guess what happened here," Marge sighed into the phone.

Jay could tell something was wrong, "what's the matter? What happened?"

Jordan and Mary stood and walked over to Jay as she listened to Marge. They waited until Jay hung up before they started to ask questions.

"Is Marge okay? Did something happen on the ranch. Is Jimmy okay? What about Sammy?" Jordan and Mary rattled off.

"I guess sometime last night Blacksmith suffered from a massive heart attack. He died this morning." Jay said as she sat down.

"Oh, my," Jordan came up to Jay and rubbed her shoulders.

"I'm finally free of him," Jay whispered. "I'm sorry he's dead, but now I don't have to worry about what him and his son are going to be doing."

"Do you think you'll be able to get the land back that he bought from you?" Jordan asked as an idea popped into her head.

"I doubt it. The land is way to expensive." Jay answered as she reached up and held on to Jordan's hand. "I'm going to go and take a walk. I'll be back in a bit." She stood and opened the door.

"Okay," Jordan gave Jay a small smile and watched her walk out.

"I don't think she knows what to do about this. All her life she has fought with that family for everything. Now at the drop of the hat it's gone." Mary said as she watched Jay through the window.

"True, I think she feels for Ritchie even though she hates his guts. She knows what it's like not to have her parents around. Now he does too," Jordan took a deep breath. "Mary I want to find out how I can buy me some land."

"What land might that be?" Mary asked even though she pretty much knew.

"I want to give Jay the best wedding gift and the land that Blacksmith got from her would be it." Jordan stated as she wrapped Mary in a hug. "I want to make Jay's dream's come true."

"My friend, I think you did that the day you met her." Mary hugged Jordan tighter. "I know you did, by that smile she gets when ever she watches you."

"I know I shouldn't feel this good that someone died, but damn it sure feels good not to have to worry about what's going to happen next." Jay thought as she threw a piece of driftwood into the surf. "Maybe some day I'll even be able to get the land I lost to him."

"Hey," Jordan said as she wrapped her arms around Jay. "You've been out here for a while. How are you doing?"

Jay turned so she could hold on to Jordan, "I'm okay."

"You're sure?" Jordan kissed the top of the blonde head that rested under her chin.

Jay nodded, "yep, I'm fine."

"Good, now come in side. Ellen has lunch ready." Jordan guided Jay across the sand and up the path to the back door.

"Everyone wants in," Jasmine stated as she jumped up and down.

Jacob smiled as he moved out of the way so that she could enter his apartment, "I know. Isn't it great."

"Plus everyone is so jealous of you. They keep calling me wanting to know how you keep getting these great shots." Jasmine said as she sat down on the couch. "Turn the TV on and see how many times we can find your video being plugged."

Jacob walked over and tossed Jasmine the remote before he hit the on switch. "You do the honors. I need another drink. Want one?"

"Sure, give me whatever your having," Jasmine flipped through the stations, only stopping on one if they were playing Jacob's video "So far I counted four."

"Here you go," Jacob handed Jasmine her drink and sat down next to her. "I'm making a fucking mint."

"Hey, remember I'm the one who helps you out," Jasmine grinned. "So you going to share?"

"I know you helped me and yes I'm going to share," Jacob smiled, "hey did you turn the TV off?"

"No," Jasmine said as she tried the on/off button on the remote, "It's not working."

"What?" Jacob grabbed the remote, "let me see that." He reached over and flipped the switch to turn on the lights.

"Didn't you pay your light bill?" Jasmine teased.

"Yes, I just sent it off last week." Jacob fumed as he ran around his apartment flipping switches. "Would you get that?" He yelled from his bedroom after his doorbell rang.

"Sure," Jasmine walked over and opened the door; "can I help you officer?"

"Is this the home of Jacob Trainer?" The police officer asked.

"Yes, please come in and I'll get him," Jasmine waved the officer in and shut the door. "I'll be right back."

"No problem," replied the officer.

Jasmine quickly walked down the hall and shut the bedroom door; "it's a cop."

"What do you mean it's a cop?" Jacob spat as he grasped Jasmine by the shoulders.

"At the door, a cop, is here to see you," Jasmine poked Jacob in the chest.

"Oh man, what does he want?" Jacob lowered his head and rested it on Jasmines shoulder. He took a deep breath; "okay lets see what he wants."

Jasmine walked over and opened the door, "after you."

Jacob just smiled and walked down the hall to the officer, "is there something I can do for you?"

"Jacob Trainer?" The officer asked as he turned from looking over the photographs.

"That's me," Jacob smiled.

"This is for you," the police officer handed Jacob an envelope. "Please make sure you follow everything that letters says." He stepped to the door, "have a good day," and left.

Jacob ripped open the envelope; "this is a restraining order against me. I can't get within one hundred yards of Jordan Martin or her property."

"You knew that was going to happen sooner or later," Jasmine replied as she poured herself another drink. "How are you going to get your prize shots now?'

"Shit they have to catch me first," Jacob tossed the paper on the table. "I have to call the electric company and find out what the hell is going on."

"I'll just be going now," Jasmine drank the rest of her drink. "Thanks for the drinks."

After about an hour of people not knowing what Jacob was talking about he slammed down the receiver, "Fuck, what the hell is going on?"

"You sure this is okay to wear tonight?" Jay asked as she held up a white t-shirt and black jeans.

Jordan stepped out of the bathroom brushing her hair, "yes, I'm wearing basically the same thing."

Jay grinned and moved closer to Jordan, "you look sexy."

"Thank you, but we don't have time for that." Jordan bent over and kissed the pouting lips. "I'll make it up to you tonight."

"I'll hold you to that," Jay grinned as she caressed Jordan's bare shoulders. "You're so soft."

"Don't," Jordan smiled, "I wish we could stay, but I have to go to the premiere. You can stay home if you want."

"And miss the chance of running into Jacob Trainer, I don't think so." Jay backed up and grabbed her shirt and jeans, "I'm going to take me shower now. I'll be out in a few minutes."

"I have a feeling that this is going to be a night I will never forget." Jordan thought out loud as she turned to her closet.

*****

"Ms. Martin look this way please." Yelled one reporter after another.

Jay was glad that Jordan suggested she wear her sunglasses, "damn, how does anyone ever get through this with out their eye sight going bad."

"Annoying isn't it?" Jordan yelled into Jay's ear, "you could go with Mom, Dad and the boys."

"Not going to happen," Jay yelled back and held on to Jordan hand tighter. "Together no matter what."

It took them a while to finally get to the doors to the theater and meet with the rest of their family.

"How do you get used to that?" Jay asked as she took a deep breath. "It's tiring."

"I know, all those people screaming and wanting to talk to you," Jordan teased as she tugged Jay to where they would be sitting.

"You're so not funny," Jay laughed as she followed Jordan. "Where are we going?"

"To my own box," Jordan smiled back to her lover. "Privacy."

"Ohh, I really like the sound of that," Jay quickened her pace.

"Follow me," Jordan winked.

"Always," Jay stated matter of fact.

"That was a good movie," Lance said to everybody when they stood to leave.

"You were great in it," Jay bent over to give Jordan a kiss.

"Thanks," Jordan grabbed Jay's hand as she stood up to follow everyone else.

"What parties are you going to?" Garrett asked when the reached the lobby.

"None, I'm going to go home." Jordan informed her family.

They stood off to the side waiting for the people to thin out before they headed to the limousine.

Jordan smiled and nodded her head as people passed her letting her know what they thought of the movie. When she turned to say something to Jay she noticed a man standing off to the side with his camera poised to take a picture.

"Look who decided to show up," Jordan motioned with her head.

Jay looked around, "who?"

"Our lovely photographer," Jordan acknowledged.

"Where?" Jay demanded as she scanned the room once again.

Jordan held on to Jay for fear that she would dash off and pummel the man to death, "he's over behind the potted tree over in the corner."

"Can I have my hand back please," Jay asked as she tried to wiggle her hand free.

Jordan looked at Jay with concern; "I don't want you to get into trouble because of that twit. So please stay here."

"If I promise not to do anything will you let me go," Jay responded as she looked deep into Jordan's eyes. "I promise not to touch a single hair on his head. I just want to have a little talk with him."

Jordan new it was a bad idea, but she trusted Jay so she let go, "okay, but please take Lance or Garrett with you."

"I will," Jay walked over to Lance and grabbed his hand. "Come with me."

"Where are we going?" Lance asked as he was tugged into the crowd.

Jay turned to look at him with an evil eye, "to have some fun of course."

"What kind of fun?" Lance asked with raised eyebrows. "Won't my sister be jealous?"

"Get your mind out of the gutter," Jay scolded with a smile. "We have a certain reporter that needs to have his manners put back in place."

Garrett stepped up behind his sister, "where are those two going?"

Jordan turned around to face her brother; "they are about to cause some trouble." She pointed over her shoulder at Jacob.

"I want to go too," Garrett pouted and started to head in the direction Jay and Lance went.

Jordan grabbed his arm, "no way, you're staying with me. I have a feeling even though Jay promised to be good I'm going to need you to help me get them out of here and fast."

"Lance always has all the fun," Garrett crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"Stop being a baby," Jordan laughed at her brother.

*****

"I still can't believe you two did that," Joe laughed. "The look on his face when that plant came crashing down on his head was priceless."

"Well, he wasn't listening to reason," Jay shrugged her shoulders as she tried not to laugh. "Maybe he'll get some of his own medicine and have his face plastered across every magazine."

"We can only hope," Jordan rubbed Jay's back. "What exactly did he say that made you do that anyway?"

Lance growled, "you really don't want to know."

Jordan looked over at her brother, "oh, yes I do."

Jay took a deep breath and let it out slowly, "he didn't like the fact that we confronted him. We told him if he didn't back off and stop following us around making our private lives very public we'd do more than have his electricity shut off."

"Oh, boy that did it. He started saying things about free speech and a bunch of other stuff that slimy reporters use so they can print what the want and not feel guilty." Lance said as he rolled down the window a bit to let some fresh air in.

"That's when we said that video didn't count. It was an invasion of privacy and that we were going to sue him and all the people that were in on it." Jay continued as she grasped Jordan's hand. "Then he started saying shit about you and that's when we decided the plant would look better on him than in it's pot."

"What did he say about Jordan?" Cindi asked from her spot next to her husband.

Jay lowered her head; "I really wouldn't like to repeat it." Jay squeezed Jordan's hand, "he was just an ass and trying to push my buttons."

Jordan bent closer and kissed Jay on the head, "love you.' She whispered.

"He's lucky all he got was a plant in his face. I could see the rage in your eyes. You wanted to punch him." Lance smacked his fist into his palm.

"You have no idea how that would of made me feel," Jay grinned a nodded her head, "but I promised Jordan I wouldn't kill him."

"I wouldn't have been too mad had you maybe hit him just once," Jordan informed Jay with an evil smirk.

"Now you tell me," Jay rolled her eyes. "You couldn't have informed me of this..oh say…before I went over to talk to him."

"Sorry," Jordan responded before she brought Jay's hand up and kissed her palm.

Jay brought the entwined hands to her lips, "nothing to be sorry for."

"You two make me need a big glass of milk." Garrett said as he watched his sister and Jay.

Jay looked at him with a raised eyebrow, "what in the hell does that mean?"

Garrett laughed, "milk always makes something that is way to sweet go down better."

"Hardy har har," Jordan stuck her tongue out, but quickly put it back in her mouth as Jay tried to grab it.

*****

Jordan rested her head on Jay's stomach and traced the muscles that twitched, "Honey?"

"Hmm," Jay stretched.

Jordan turned to place her chin on the top of her hand, "what did Trainer say to you."

"Baby, I really don't want you to know what he said," Jay replied honestly.

"I want to know," Jordan sat up and sat crossed legged next to Jay. "Please."

Jay sighed, "are you sure?"

Jordan nodded her head, "yes."

"Okay, he said the only reason you were still doing any movies was because you slept with anyone and everyone. Plus he said the only reason you were with me at all was because I had something you wanted." Jay pushed herself up so she was leaning back against the headboard. "What really got me was when he said that you even slept with him just to get your picture in the paper and he laughed when he said that's when you turned to women. He said that he ruined you for all men."

"That son of a bitch," Jordan cursed as she slapped the bed.

"He continued to say some other stuff, but by that point I just snapped and you saw what happened." Jay rubbed Jordan's knee.

"Why do people pay attention to crap tabloids put out?" Jordan questioned as she laid her head on Jay's lap.

"Not sure maybe," Jay ran her fingers through Jordan's long dark hair. "Some people need the distraction from their own boring lives. They want to see people who they think have it all brought down to their level."

"That's just plan stupid," Jordan responded as she shut her eyes.

Jay nodded her head, "Yes, it is." She watched as Jordan drifted off to sleep. "Next time he better watch out. I don't plan on being so nice about him bad mouthing you."

*****

Jacob sat in his car next to Jordan's driveway. "You just wait." He took another drink from his bottle of alcohol; "I will get you for embarrassing me like that." He gunned the engine and squealed the tires leaving two long black streaks on the cement."

"Good morning Ellen," Cindi said as she walked into the kitchen.

Ellen turned and smiled, "morning Mrs. Martin. How was the movie last night?"

"It was good. Maybe her best yet," Cindi informed the housekeeper with a smile. "What are you doing?"

"Oh, this is for Ms. Krammer. She asked me if I could make a picnic for lunch for everybody." Ellen said as she cut a sandwich in half.

"Ohh really, that sounds like a great idea," Cindi smiled as she poured herself a cup of coffee.

"I think that Ms. Martin and Ms. Krammer make a great couple. You can tell that she just adores her," Ellen stuffed the now wrapped sandwich into the basket.

"Who adores who?" Cindi asked with a knowing smile.

"They adore each other," Ellen stated matter of fact.

Cindi laughed and nodded her head; "you got that right. They're like two peas in a pod."

"What about peas?" Jordan questioned as she walked into the room and over to her mom giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Hello Mom."

"Hello, dear. And we were talking about Jay and you." Cindi patted Jordan on the shoulder. "You two were meant to be together."

"Yes we were," Jordan agreed as she reached for a cup. "She rocks my world."

"Believe me dear, we know that already," Cindi moved away from her daughter. "You forgot to close your door and the whole house heard how she rocked your world."

"Oh, God." Jordan blushed and lowered her head.

"That's what you said last night," Cindi teased as she ran from the room.

"MOTHER," Jordan yelled. "I can't believe she said that."

Ellen had to grab the counter to stop herself from falling to the floor, "I love your family, Ms. Martin. They sure do know how to have fun."

"We sure do," Jordan leaned against the counter taking a sip of her coffee. "Is that the lunch Jay asked you to fix for our picnic?"

"Yes, it's all ready to go. I'll put it in the fridge until your ready." Ellen grabbed the handle of the basket and opened the door to the appliance. "Do you think you'll need anything else?"

"No, that should do it." Jordan replied, "why don't you take the rest of the day off and come with us."

Ellen closed the door and smiled, "that would be great. Thanks."

"Well, you are part of this family after all," Jordan acknowledged as she walked up and gave Ellen a hug.

"That makes me very happy to hear that," Ellen wiped tears that began to fall.

"Don't start crying. It will only get me going," Jordan sniffed as she too started to cry.

Jay stepped into the room and looked at Jordan and then Ellen, "what's going on? Why are you two crying?"

"We're just so happy," Jordan responded as she wiped her nose on her sleeve.

"That's gross," Jay pointed at Jordan's sleeve. "I'm not coming anywhere near you until you change your shirt."

*****

"So Jay where are we going?" Cindi asked as she stood by her car.

"Mary told me about a park near by." Jay replied as she opened the door for Cindi. "I always loved picnics and thought it would be a great idea for us to go and do something as a family before we left to go back to the ranch."

"That's very thoughtful of you, and it is a perfect idea," Cindi kissed Jay on the cheek before she slipped into the passengers seat of her car.

"Sucking up to our mother are you?" Lance kidded Jay as she opened the back door of the car.

"You will learn one day that it's the only way to go." Jay lowered her voice, "see if you can keep the mother in law happy then no matter what happens to her daughter and you she'll always love you."

"I heard that," Cindi yelled from the front of the car. "And she's right."

Jay and Lanced started to laugh.

"Are you guys going to have Ellen ride with you," Jordan asked as she walked up to the car.

Lance nodded his head, "yes, she'll have more room with us. You have all the stuff in the back of your car."

"Okay, now we are just waiting on those Dad, Garret and Ellen." Jordan said as she walked over to her car. "Jay are you driving?"

"No, you can. I'm not used to all the crazy drivers here." Jay replied as she walked over to Jordan's car. "We'll go on ahead and pick out a spot."

"Okay, that sounds good." Lance agreed as he waited for the rest of the family. "See you in a few."

*****

"Do you know where we are supposed to meet Jay and Jordan?" Garrett asked from the back seat.

"Yes, I talked to her earlier and I know the place she was talking about." Joe responded as he drove. "Looks like an accident up ahead."

"Sure does," Lance leaned forward to get a better look. "Dad you should pull over and let Garrett and I out so we can help until the police arrive."

"Good idea," Joe turned on his signal and pulled off the road.

Lance and Garrett got out of the car and walked over to the car that was crumpled and leaking fluids every where on the ground.

"This guy smells like he swam in a bucket of booze." Garrett informed his brother as he reached in to check the man's pulse. "I got nothing here."

A man ran up to Lance, "you have to help the ones in the car that he hit. They went down the embankment."

"Okay, show us." Garrett quickly followed the man and looked down when he pointed at a car that sat upside down about twenty yards away from them. "Did you see what happened."

"Yes, he just came out of no where and slammed into them." The man yelled over the sirens from the emergency vehicles that were arriving.

"What do you have Garrett?" Lance asked as he ran up to his brother.

Garrett pointed over the edge, "that guy hit that car and sent it over the edge."

Lance glanced over and cringed. As he looked a little longer he noticed the color and the make of the car was the same as Jordan's car. "Oh God," He yelled as he saw the license plate. It read 'JM 1'

"What?" Garrett asked concerned by the way his brother's face paled.

He started to go down the embankment; "it's Jordan's car."

"No," Lance ran after his brother.

The two men skidded down the hill trying not to cause to many rocks from sliding down with them.

"You go and check on Jay," Lance said to Garrett.

Garrett just nodded his head.

This was every police officers nightmare. Coming up to an accident scene and finding out your family was involved.

Lance moved around to the driver's side and bent over on his knees to see how his sister was. "Jordan can you hear me?"

No sound came from Jordan so Lance reached in and checked for a pulse. He found one, "thank god," he let out a breath of relief. "I got a pulse here." He heard Garrett repeat what he said. "How's Jay?"

"Hold on a second. Her window is in the way." Garrett yelled back as he tried to open the door. "I need your help. I can't get the door open."

"Okay," Lance quickly hurried around the car. "On the count of three. One…two…three." They pulled and finally the door gave way so they could check on Jay.

"I got a nice strong pulse." Garrett informed Lance.

"You two need to get out of here," A fireman ordered them.

"We are police officers and the people in this car are our sister and her partner. No way in hell are you going to get us out of here until they are out." Lance screamed back.

"Okay, calm down. Now tell me what we've got." The fireman asked as he stepped over to the car.

"Two females, both are still unresponsive with strong heart beats. They both have on their seat belts and that's what's keeping them in place." Garrett informed the man.

"Let me call up and tell them what we need," the fireman said as he switched on his walkie-talkie.

After they got the right equipment down where the car was it only took twenty minutes to get Jordan and Jay out of the car.

"I need to go and tell Mom and Dad what's going on," Lance said as he wiped his hands off on his pants. "You go ahead and ride with Jordan I'll hurry up and go with Jay."

"Okay," Garrett stepped into the ambulance that would take Jordan to the hospital.

*****

"Oh here comes Lance," Cindi pointed out the window. "He doesn't look so good. Some body must have been hurt pretty badly."

"He had some blood on his shirt," Ellen noticed as the man came closer.

Lance walked over to his Dad's side of the car and bent over to rest on the open window.

"Are you okay honey?" Cindi asked as she looked at her son.

Lance shook his head, "no," He looked up into his mother's eyes. "Jordan and Jay were in one of the cars. I need to hurry so I can ride with Jay to the hospital. Garrett is with Jordan. They were both unresponsive, but they have a strong heart beat. You need to follow us and meet us there."

"Okay son, go be with Jay." Joe replied trying not to loose it. He grabbed Cindi's hand and held on tight as he watched his son run off.

"Ohh my," Cindi cried.

Joe turned engulfed his wife in a hug; "everything is going to be okay."

"Why? Those two have been through so much shit already." Cindi cried on her husband's shoulder.

Joe reached back and grabbed ahold of Ellen's hand; "I don't know honey, but those two will be alright. Let's get going."

"Okay lets hurry," Cindi sat back and wiped her face.

*****

Cindi and Ellen walked into the ER and looked around to see if they could spot Lance or Garrett.

"Over there," Ellen pointed.

They walked up to the two men who were talking to a doctor.

"What's going on?" Cindi asked as she stepped up to her sons.

"Mom, this is Dr. Bates he's just got done examining Jordan." Lance wrapped his arm around his mom's waist.

"Mrs. Martin, like I just told your sons. We had to take Jordan up for emergency surgery. She had internal bleeding, we will know more when they are done. Plus she has a broken left leg and a dislocated left shoulder." Dr. Bates informed the group. "Now if you will please excuse me I have other patients."

"Wait, what about the woman that was brought in with her?" Ellen jumped at the man grabbing his white coat by the sleeve.

"You mean the small blonde?" Dr. Bates asked.

"Yes," they all said at the same time.

"She's fine, just a broken arm and a bump on the head. She has a mild concussion, but she is awake and waiting for a room." The doctor motioned towards a curtain. "She is over there if you want to go see her."

"Thank you doctor," Lance shook the man's hand then turned to follow his family.

*****

Jay lay there with her eyes closed. She had tried to sit up but the pain shot up her arm and made her sick to her stomach.

"What the hell happened?" Jay asked the nurse who stood by the bed.

The nurse smiled and answered the question again; "you have been in an accident. Your right arm is broken and you have a mild concussion."

"Okay," Jay lay there and tried to get her stomach to calm down.

"Oh, how are you doing honey?" Cindi asked softly as she stepped up to the bed.

Ellen, Garrett and Lance stayed out in the hallway to wait for Joe who was parking the car.

"Hey, Mom. Just a bump on the head." Jay smiled at her then she started to look around. "Where's Jordan?"

Cindi looked up at the nurse with concern.

"Part of having a concussion. I've told her she's been in a car accident four times." The nurse stated before she stepped out of the make sift room.

Cindi walked up to the bed and brushed Jay's blonde bangs out of her eyes. "Honey, she was in the car with you. They had to take her up for emergency surgery."

"What?" Jay tried to sit up but Cindi's held her down. "Stay right where you are. All we can do is wait."

"How bad was she hurt?" Jay mumbled as she tried to stay calm.

"Her left leg is broken and her left shoulder was dislocated. The worst of it is she has internal bleeding. That's why she was rushed into surgery." Cindi caressed Jay's cheek as tears fell down her own.

"She'll be okay? Right?" Jay questioned softly.

"All we can do is pray." Cindi said as Joe stepped in the room.

"There is a police officer out here that would like to talk to Jay," Joe stepped up to stand by his wife and grasped Jay's hand, "hey, how are you doing?"

"I'll be better after I find out how Jordan's doing," Jay responded as she squeezed Joe's hand.

"We all will be," Joe smiled. "Do you want me to tell him to come back?"

"No, let's get this over with." Jay said, "it's not like I can help a whole lot. The last thing I remember is going to bed last night."

"I'll go get him," Joe released Jay's hand and moved the curtain and waved the police officer over.

"Hi, I'm Officer Chadwick and I need to ask you a few questions about the accident." The policeman took out a small notebook and pen. "What can you tell me about what happen earlier today?"

"Nothing, I don't remember any of it." Jay replied as she closed her eyes.

"Nothing at all ma'am?" Officer Chadwick questioned.

"Sorry, everything is a blank," Jay replied feeling like crap because she couldn't remember anything to help. "Did anyone see what happened?"

"We have several witnesses," Officer Chadwick acknowledged with a nod of his head.

"What happened?" Cindi asked.

"Your car was hit on the drivers side by a drunk driver. He ran a stop sign and made the car you were in flip over an embankment." He informed the two women. "Do you have any more questions?"

"No," Jay whispered quietly.

"Here is my card. If you have any questions don't hesitate to call." Officer Chadwick said as he handed Cindi and small white card.

"Thanks officer," Cindi put the card in her purse.

Officer Chadwick walked out of the room leaving the two alone.

"I can't lose her. She is my life." Jay started to cry as the reality of what happened crashed down on her.

Cindi tried to comfort Jay without hurting her arm, "ohh, honey. Jordan's going to be okay. She's just a little banged up is all."

"You know since Jordan's met me she's spent a whole lot of time in a hospital. Maybe it's a sign that she'd be better off without me." Jay cried.

"No, don't you even think that for one more minute." Cindi scolded Jay. "I have never seen my daughter this happy. You make the light in her eyes shine brighter than I've ever seen it."

Jay nodded her head and was about to reply, but an orderly pushed open the curtain.

"Ms. Krammer?" He asked as he pushed in another gurney.

"Yes," Jay answered.

"Hi, my name is Norris and I'm here to take you to get a cast on your arm then take you to your room." He gently helped Jay scoot over to the other bed. "She'll be in room 710."

"Thank you," Cindi smiled. "While your getting that done we'll get an update on Jordan."

"Okay," Jay whispered.

Cindi walked up to Jay and rested her hand on Jay's shoulder. "You keep thinking positively. Jordan and you belong together."

Jay closed her eyes and tried to believe those words. "Belong together." She thought, "Maybe, maybe not."

*****

Jordan heard someone call her name. "Hmm."

"She's coming around," Lance said with excitement. "Jordan open your eyes."

"Lance leave me alone," Jordan mumbled softly.

"Honey, open your eyes," Joe asked his daughter as he grabbed her hand.

Jordan turned her shifted a little and gasped out in pain, "what the hell?"

"Don't try to move. You've had major surgery." Joe informed Jordan. "I have someone who's been very impatient to see you." He motioned for Garrett to wheel Jay closer.

Jay reached out and placed Jordan's cast covered hand inside her hand very carefully, "hey baby. You're going to be just fine."

Jordan shook her head to clear the fuzziness when she opened her eyes. She saw her dad and mom on her right side and smiled, "hi." Then she looked up and saw her brothers and smiled at them. She then turned and saw Jay, "who are you?" Jordan asked confused.

"What?" Jay asked as she slipped her hand away from Jordan's.

Jay sat out in the hallway staring at the white door that blocked her view of Jordan. She lowered her head and let the tears fall.

"She doesn't remember me," Jay thought. "What's going to happen now? Is it better to let her go and start over or do I stay?"

Jay's head whipped up when the door opened and she tried to see in the room, but the portly nurse got in her way.

"Can you tell me what's going on in there?" Jay asked hoping that the nurse would give her some kind of clue.

"I'm sorry, I can't," the nurse smiled softly before she walked down the hall.

"I understand," Jay replied to the nurses back.

"Maybe this is some sign that we really aren't meant to be together?" Jay grabbed the wheels of the wheel chair and gasped out in pain from her broken arm. She stopped a nurse and asked her to help her back to her own room.

*****

"What is the last thing you remember?" Joe asked as he stood by the bed.

Jordan looked up at him; "Mary and I making plans to go see Grandma's friend Marge."

Cindi brushed the dark bangs that had fallen into Jordan's eyes, "honey that was a couple of months ago."

"No way, not possible." Jordan looked from one face to another.

"I'm afraid so," Lance said from a chair in the corner.

"Why don't I remember? And who was the woman who was holding my hand?" Jordan asked confused.

"You must have hit your head harder than we thought," Joe explained, "and the woman who was here, her name is Jay Krammer. She's has become a very good friend of yours."

Three sets of eyes looked at him wondering why he didn't tell Jordan of her deeper relationship with Jay.

"If she's as good a friend as you say why don't I remember her?" Jordan questioned.

"Maybe it's the trauma of the past couple of weeks. Your brain has shut itself off to take time to put everything in perspective." Cindi suggested as she slightly shrugged her shoulders.

"Maybe," Jordan mumbled as the pain medication the nurse gave her started to take affect.

"Sleep now," Joe bent over and placed a kiss on Jordan's check.

"I'm going to go and check on Jay," Garrett whispered as he gave his mom a hug.

"I'll go with you dear. She must be heart broken." Cindi followed Garrett to the door. "We'll be back."

"Okay," Lance and Joe said together as they watched the dark haired woman sleep.

When Cindi and Garrett didn't see Jay outside the door they walked up to the nurse's station.

"Excuse me," Garrett said, "I was wondering if you might have seen a small blonde woman in a wheel chair."

"She have a broken arm?" One nurse asked as she closed a file she was looking at.

Cindi stepped up next to her son, "yes, she did."

"One of the other nurses helped her back to her room." The nurse informed the two Martins.

"Thank you," Cindi replied and quickly headed off to talk with Jay. She stopped at the elevators, "Garrett I think that maybe you should stay here."

"Are you sure?" Garrett asked as he rested his hand on his Mom's shoulder.

Cindi nodded her head, "yes."

Garrett leaned over and kissed her check, "okay."

Jay turned her head when she heard the door open, "how's she doing?"

"Okay, considering," Cindi answered as she made sure the door closed.

"She doesn't remember anything about me does she?" Jay asked as the tears began to run down her face again.

Cindi shook her head; "the last thing she remembers is getting ready to go visit Marge." She stepped up and rubbed Jay's leg. "This won't last forever. She'll get her memory back and everything will be fine."

"I hope so," Jay cried. "I feel so helpless not being able to do anything for her."

"We all feel that way," Cindi drew Jay into a hug. "Give it time. Things will work out."

Jay nodded her head, but didn't share her feelings. "I'm not so sure about that."

After six weeks of being forced to stay in the hospital Jordan was very happy to see her house when they removed her from the ambulance.

"Home sweet home," Jordan grinned. "My own room, my own bed, my own everything."

"It' so good to see you home," Ellen said as Jordan was carried past her and Jordan's parents.

"Good to see you too, Ellen," Jordan replied with a small wave. "Hi, Mom and Dad."

"Welcome home dear," They smiled at the daughter.

The two paramedics carried Jordan up the stairs to her room. They gently transferred her from the gurney to her soft king sized bed.

"Heaven," Jordan moaned as she made herself as comfortable as she could.

"Now Ms. Martin make sure you stay in bed for another two weeks." One paramedic said as he flipped through her file.

"Like I'm going any where with two broken legs and a broken arm," Jordan wiggled her fingers at the man.

"True, just be careful okay. The doctor said you are healing nicely. You don't want to cause more harm by moving around to much, okay." He smiled, "we'll be going now. Take care."

"Not to be mean or anything, I hope I never see you again," Jordan teased.

"Same goes for us, bye," With a quick wave he walked out the door.

"So how does it feel to be out of that crummy hospital?" Joe asked his daughter as he walked in.

"Great," Jordan responded cheerfully. "So where is everyone?"

"Well, your Mom went to get you something to eat. Lance and Garrett are working and plan on stopping by sometime tomorrow. Ellen is with your Mom, and Jay is probably sitting on the beach like she has been everyday since she got back from the hospital." Joe stated not to happy with the last.

"Why has she been out there everyday?" Jordan asked. Jay had come to visit her a couple of times while she was in the hospital, but she never stayed to long or really talked about herself. Jordan could see that something was hurting Jay, but nobody would tell her what was going on. "I wish someone would tell me what's going on. Supposedly Jay has been a friend of mine and even though I don't remember I would still like to be her friend."

Joe wanted to tell his daughter that Jay was more than a good friend. He wanted to tell her that Jay was the one she had fallen in love with, who she had given her heart and soul too, but Jay thought it best to not put that kind of pressure on Jordan.

"I hope you're hungry, because you have a tray full of your favorites." Cindi walked in with Ellen behind her. Both had trays in their hand. "We decided that it would be a good idea to have lunch up here with you."

"Good," Jordan said still looking at her dad with a raised eyebrow.

Joe was glad that his wife chose that moment to enter the room otherwise he would have talked, "Great."

"Oh here," Ellen walked up to Jordan after she put her tray down on the table. "One of those paramedics gave me this. I think it's all your personal effects."

"Thanks Ellen," Jordan reached for the large brown envelope and laid it on the pillow next to her.. "I'll look at it later."

"Let's eat," Joe clapped his hands together, "I'm starving and that sure smells good."

"I will find out what everybody is hiding and why." Jordan thought as she watched the three busy themselves with setting up lunch.

*****

"I suppose I should go up and see her," Jay said to the waves that tickled her feet. "It's just hard, not to be able to show her how much I love her. To take her in my arms and kiss her, touch her….love her."

Jay slowly turned and walked back to the house. "I need to know what to do." She stopped and looked up to the blue skies, "give me some sort of clue as to what I should do."

When nothing happened Jay continued her walk up to the house. When she opened the door Ellen meet her with a smile.

"You didn't get your cast wet again did you?" The housekeeper put her hands on her hips.

"No, and get yelled at by you again, no thank you," Jay teased the woman. "How is she?"

"Okay, she's having lunch with her parents right now. Would you like something?" Ellen asked as she started to get a plate down from the cupboard.

"No, I'm not to hungry," Jay walked past Ellen and started for the stairs.

"You will not be any good to anyone if you don't start to eat," Ellen yelled to Jay.

Jay stopped and lowered her head. "You're right Ellen, but I just can make myself eat when I'm not hungry." Jay thought as she took a deep breath and slowly started up the stairs. "Maybe it's time I left."

"So Mom what are your plans?" Jordan asked her Mom before she took a bite of her food.

Cindi sipped at her tea; "we will stay here until you get up on your feet."

"That could take months," Jordan replied with her mouth full.

Joe nodded his head, "yes it will, but we aren't going anywhere."

"Thanks Mom and Dad," Jordan grinned. "Family is great." She thought as the large envelope caught her attention. Jordan reached for it and began to open it.

"Hi, " Jay said as she walked n the room.

Jordan looked up as she dumped the stuff in the envelope next to her. "Hello, and what have you been up too?"

"Not too much," Jay responded with a smile. "Just bumming around."

"That's what I've been told," Jordan tossed the envelope on the floor and began to look at what she had next to her. "What's this?" She asked as she brought up the ring that Jay had given her.

"It's your ring," Jay stated as she grabbed a seat next to the bed.

Jordan looked at it confused; "it looks like an engagement ring."

Jay made a decision, "it is."

Jordan turned it and read the inscription, "you gave me this?"

Jay nodded her head and asked for the ring by placing her hand palm side up. "I gave this to you because I love you. You might not remember our love, but I do."

Joe had motioned to his wife that they should go. They silently stood up and left the room closing the door after them.

Jordan placed the ring on Jay's palm, "what are you saying?" She was becoming upset.

Jay placed the ring on the bedside table next to her. Then she reached up and unclasped the necklace Jordan had given her. "You gave me this and I really shouldn't keep it until you can remember the love you have for me." Jay reached for the ring and placed it on the chain with the pendent. "I want you to keep these together until you get your memory back."

"I still don't understand what's going on?" Jordan began to cry. "You and me?"

"Yes, you and me. I know this is the cowards way out. My heart can't take you not knowing any more. That's why I decided to tell you and let you get on with your life. If you ever do get your memory back you'll know where to find me. If not…well you just won't remember." Jay stood up quickly, "I'll leave these on right here."

Jordan watched Jay place the necklace and ring on the table by the bed. Her heart jumped into her throat when she saw Jay wipe tears away with the back of her hand. "Where are you going?"

"Home," Jay answered softly as she turned around and walked to the door. Before she opened the door she turned to get one last look at Jordan, "I love you," she said looking straight into Jordan's lost blue eyes. "Bye," Jay stepped out of the room.

Jordan watched Jay walk out of her room. She lay there trying to understand what just happened.

"Jay and me, together? That's what everybody has been hiding from me." Jordan thought as she got mad. "Why in the hell didn't they tell me?"

"We didn't tell you because Jay did want to pressure you into something that you might not want any more." Cindi told her daughter as she walked back into the room.

"Mom, go get her and bring her back here." Jordan yelled. Mad that she couldn't get up and get Jay herself.

"I won't do that to Jay." Cindi sat down on the edge of the bed. "She hurting right now and if she feels like this is what she needs to do then I can't stop her."

"You agree with her just walking in here and laying this at my feet. Then walking out of my life," Jordan slapped the bed with her hands.

"I never said I agreed with it. This is all a surprise to us too. We had decided that we'd wait to see if you'd remember. I don't know what made Jay change her mind, but there is nothing I can do about it." Cindi frowned at the helpless look her daughter had on her face.

"I know I don't remember her, but I feel like my heart is breaking into million pieces." Jordan cried. "I don't understand what the hell is going on and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it."

"I know sweet heart, but maybe it's for the best. Jay has been lost without being able to help you and I think this is just her way of trying to protect herself from any more pain." Cindi said as she reached for a tissue on the bedside table. She noticed the necklace lying there and picked it up. "She gave this back to you?"

Jordan nodded her head, "Jay said I gave it to her and that she shouldn't keep it until I remember my love for her."

Cindi unclasped the chain and pulled the ring off, "she didn't take the ring with her?"

"No," Jordan wiped her face off with her hand.

"This belonged to her mother. She was killed along with Jay's father and brother. They were killed by a drunk driver several years ago." Cindi informed her daughter as she put the ring back on the necklace and turned to place it around Jordan's neck.

"Will you tell me more about Jay," Jordan asked as she touched the jewelry.

Cindi smiled, "sure honey."

"Where are you going?" Joe ran up to Jay.

Jay stopped, but didn't turn around; "I can't take it any more. I feel like I'm dying every time I look at her. She doesn't remember me and I know this is the cowards way out, but what am I to do if she never remembers the love we shared." Jay turned around and looked at Joe with tears running down her face. "Be her friend and watch her find someone else? I honestly don't think I could survive that."

"What if she falls in love with you again?" Joe stepped closer to Jay and tried to bring her into a hug.

Jay put her hands up to stop him, "don't, please. I wanted to believe that might happen, but it hurts too much right now." She turned back around and headed down the stairs. She stopped on the last step and looked over her shoulder, "thanks."

Joe nodded his head and smiled. "My pleasure." He knew Jay wasn't thanking him for letting her go, but for being something she hadn't had in many years. A father.

"Jay?" Marge called as she waked out on to the porch. She saw Jay sitting on the swing staring off into space. "Honey, why don't you call and see what's going on. It's been eight months now. Maybe she remembers something now."

"If she remembered she'd come back." Jay said softly.

Marge walked up to Jay and stood in front of her making her stop the swing. "I can't believe you've sat here doing nothing. You let the one thing go in your life that finally broke those damn walls you built up after your parents died. I thought that you were a fighter."

"How in the hell am I suppose to fight something I can't see? I could always see the Blacksmith's coming at me. What happened to Jordan is something that the love I have for her can't win. Nothing will bring those memories back." Jay stood up and began to pace.

"You didn't stick around long enough to find out," Marge stopped Jay by grabbing her shoulders.

Jay stared straight into Marge's eyes; "it hurt to much. It just hurt way to much."

Marge hugged Jay and started to cry, "I know, but sometimes life hits you in the gut and you have to take it, but it's your choice to stand up against it again or let it win." Marge cupped Jay's face in her hands, "are you going to let it win?"

"It already has," Jay reached up and pulled Marge's hands off her face and walked off.

Marge watched Jay walk to the barn. Her heart broke at the way Jay had looked. "Defeated and broken." She thought as she wiped tears away from her eyes.

"Hi, Jay," Jimmy said when he saw Jay walk into the barn.

Jay looked up at her friend, "hi."

Jimmy went back to mucking the stall and watched Jay stand in front of the stall that held Jordan's Destiny. After a couple of minutes Jimmy rested the pitchfork against the wall and walked over to Jay.

"What are we going to do with him?" Jimmy asked as he stood next to Jay.

Jay looked up at him, "what do you mean?"

Jimmy shrugged his shoulders; "he doesn't belong to us."

Jay nodded her head, "you're right, he doesn't. What do you think we should do about it?"

Jimmy scratched his chin as he stepped up and leaned against the stall door, "we need to give him to Jordan. He belongs to her even if she doesn't remember him."

"You're right," Jay agreed, "how do you think we should get him there?'

"Sammy and I could take him," Jimmy responded. "Maybe it would help her to remember after she saw him. After all he was named after her and Jordan's destiny is to be here with you."

"What makes you think that. Maybe what has happened is for the best." Jay spat as she kicked a bale of hay.

"If it wasn't meant to be then you wouldn't have named this horse after her." Jimmy turned to Jay. "Plus anyone who has ever seen you two together would know that. I'm not the smartest person in the world and I could see that you two belonged together."

"I'm not so sure any more." Jay confessed.

Jimmy patted Jay on the back, "I'm sure."

"So you think you could talk Sam into taking a road trip with you?" Jay questioned Jimmy with a smile. She figured that if Jimmy could see the right side of things the least she could do was look too.

"I know I could," Jimmy jumped up and down. "When do you want us to leave?"
