Taps Xena stood
at the main entrance to the cave with her sword drawn and eyes
staring straight ahead, ever worried about the impending danger.
Gabrielle leaned against the warm wall; a soft smile appeared on her
face, with a certain lust to her eyes. The years hadn't changed her
feelings for her warrior. The stance of her lover, sent tingles down
her spine, as she licked her lips. "Xena, what are you doing?"
Gabrielle already knew the answer but wanted to hear the reason for
her self.
"Gabrielle, you know exactly what I'm doing. It's Halloween and
those damned Amazons of yours will be up to their usual tricks."
Gabrielle started to laugh at the memory of the walls in the
Wizard's library being covered in "blue goo" from the non-con fort
at the Academy. "Xena, you can't be everywhere at once. They snuck
in last year, they'll sneak in again. Besides you'll scare away the
children from coming up to the door for candy."
Taps Xena shuffled her feet back and forth for a moment and finally
re-sheathed her sword. "Fine, here's the candy dish, you pass it out
this year, and I’m going to find the Wizard."
As Taps Xena stomped off pretending to be angry and menacing, she
quickly gave her partner a kiss, and a wink, then went off to find
the Wizard.
"Wizard!" Taps Xena yelled sending the book of spells in the
Wizard's hands flying.
"Damn it Xena, can't you ever walk in here without scaring me and
just say hello?"
The Wizard bent down and quickly retrieved the scared book. Xena
stood at full height, arms crossed across her chest. She was dressed
in her old familiar leathers, sword at her back and chakram at her
side. "It's Halloween again and you've done nothing to improve the
security system around here." Xena snarled at the Wizard in an
attempt to vent her frustration.
"Yes I have and look what happens. Every time I go to unlock the
damn thing, the silent alarm goes off and we have the fan fiction
police showing up at the door."
The Wizard sits back in her well-worn chair and cocks one eyebrow at
her warrior friend. "I have planned ahead this year, so don't
worry."
Wizard is quite smug as she explains to Xena how all of the
characters from the library have pitched in this year to play a few
tricks on the Amazons in retaliation from last year.
"It took me weeks to scrub the blue goo off the walls and my revenge
shall be my best trick ever."
Xena turns and leaves, leaving the Wizard with her books. She walks
around the entire cave to see familiar faces set and ready with
paint ball guns, ready to defend the cave.
Upon her return to the main entrance she notices Gabrielle is taking
candy from a different bowl when giving them out to an Amazon.
"Hey, I saw that. How come a different bowl?" Taps Xena asks.
"The Wizards secret formula for revenge." Gabrielle giggles and
carefully takes candy from the other bowl for a small ghost child
that has appeared.
Xena picks up the candy and smells it. "What's in here?"
Gabrielle takes the candy out of her lover’s hand and replaces it
into the bowl. "Remember that laxative her and the Royal Knight Dee
put into those cookies for the Mad Scientist?"
Taps Xena's eyes shoot up in horror. "She didn't?"
"She did."
A sympathetic look crossed briefly over Xena's face, then replaced
by laughter.
"Guess I'd better find Avery to order more toilet paper."
Tap, the Wizard sat quietly in her computer room the next morning as
cursing could be heard throughout the Xena verse. A knowing smile
ran across her lips as she enjoyed her coffee and bagel.
"Happy Halloween everyone and watch out for wizard's bearing candy."
