Wizzy’s Wackyweed...Welcome to hell on wheels...
Interview with
Lois Kay Wizz an Nancy....... 1.) How long have you been writing creative fiction? Since I learned how to write. Before that I was just a kid with way too much imagination.
2.) What is your favorite fan fiction story you have written and why? ‘Heart’s Choice’. Because it’s a story about ‘normal’ people, no heroes, stunts and bloody murder. All right, Emma runs into a burning shed to save her niece, but, that’s what normal people do. Right?
3.) What got you interested in Xena and writing fan fiction? One day I was bored and while channel surfing I came across Xena. It was ‘A family affair’. I watched it and was hooked. After a while, when killing time on the internet, I Googled ‘Xena’, just for fun and ran into Missy Good’s stories. I went on a reading frenzy and decided I’d like to write stories for the fanfic sites. The rest is history...
3.) How has Xena changed your life? Through posting my tales on the Internet I met my partner and moved from The Netherlands to the USA (which took about 2,5 years of red tape)
4.) What colors ur tooth brush? ....Green, I think....yup, lime-green
5.) If you could be any super hero who would you be and why? Rocky the flying squirrel. Because Bullwinkle is a hoot.
6.) Do you wipe with your right hand or left or do you use toilet paper Toilet paper?
7.) Why and when did you start writing? Since I was a kid. I had to, to silence the chaos in my head and keep my sanity.
8.) What’s ur bra size? The size that fits
9.) How do you have time to WRITE so many stories at once? I don’t, that’s the frustrating part of Real Life. I used to work evenings and wrote in the morning. Now I work ‘flexible’ days and have to write whenever I have time.
10.) How do you get your inspiration? My inspiration can be a word, a sentence, music, a feeling, a scene that pops up in my head and makes me write a story around it. Numerous things, I guess.
11.) What kind of underoo's do you wear? The kind I buy in the store.
12.) How long have you been writing? It’s been a while since I was a kid, so...long!
13.) What story/series are you most proud of? I’m kinda proud of The Reef-series, because it kept growing.
14.) Do you get hate mail and how do you handle those? I’ve never had any hate mail, but if I would receive some, I guess I’d just shrug my shoulders and hit delete. To me, there are more serious things to get upset about.
15.) How about do you get any HATE mail from readers? Nope
16.) What's the best piece of advice you got when you were starting out as a writer? Don’t rush into a story. Take your time to let your characters grow and develop.
17.) How do you lay out your stories? Ummm...in my head? I don’t really lay out anything. A story starts in my head and I just...write...I never really know where I’m going to, until I’ve arrived.
18.) Do you have an ending before you start writing, or does it reveal itself to you as you write? Both, really. Sometimes I have an ending, sometimes the ending changes while I’m writing and sometimes I’m totally in the dark and have no clue about the ending at all, until the story ends.
19.) How do you get beyond just an idea? After I get an idea, I stew on it and just wait and see what my brain will do with it. When it develops into something I can write about, I take it from there.
20.) How does an idea become a story? Stewing and fermenting. Which makes writing sound like cooking, I guess.
21.) What suggestions do you have for creating self-discipline at writing? Ha! That’s funny, because sometimes I think I don’t have any self-discipline at all. All right, let’s give myself some advice: commit yourself to the story. For me it’s hard to set aside a set time to write. I have to use whatever time I have, whenever I have it. But once I start a story, I’m very committed in finishing it. No matter how long it takes me.
22.) Which story/series has gotten the most response from fans? The Reef-series and Heart’s Choice are a tie, I guess.
23.) Do you like to write X&G stories or uber/original stories better? I haven’t tried X&G (yet), so I can’t really answer that. I do think however, that writing X&G would be harder, because you have to work with characters who already exist. There’s not much freedom in that and I guess that would be very hard to do.
24.) Do you envision a story before you write it, or does the story just un-fold as you write it? Most of the times the story unfolds as a movie in my head.
25.) When you've finished with the story/book do you miss those characters that you've written about? Yes, I do, because they’ve become a part of me.
26.) Do you or do you not wear underwear? If so what kind? Trying to wear me down, huh? I still wear the kind I buy at the store.
27.) If you could have dinner with anyone who would it be and why? My partner. But if you refer to someone famous, I’d say Melissa Etheridge. I admire her strength, power and perseverance.
28) Who is your favorite Xmen??? Um..that one guy...you know!
29) Who is your favorite super hero of all times?...IE...batman, superman, wonder woman?? I’m still thinking...
30) Years from now, how would you want to be remembered? As somebody who touched a few lives and changed them in a positive way
31) What is your pet peeve? Hypocrisy, I can’t stand it and having to talk to somebody who is mindlessly chewing gum. I don’t mean the discrete way, but the ‘wide-open-mouthed-chewing-like-a-camel’ kind of chewing
32) What advice can you give to future writers? If you want to write, then do it! Don’t waste any time making excuses not to be creative, life’s too short (and there are too many stories to tell)
33) What has the show Xena meant to you? A lot, like I answered before. It changed my life in so many ways
34) What are your dreams? Hopes? Wishes? My dream is to be a full-time writer (yeah, keep on dreaming!), my hope is to be able to combine work, writing and pleasure without getting too exhausted. My wish is that, one day, people will respect and accept each other for who they are.
35) What is a necessity for every writer in your opinion? Respect for the characters, respect for yourself and respect for your readers.
36) What's your favorite quote? Why and how does it affect you? Dare to be different. I cherish individuality and being your own person
37) What makes your best friend your best friend? The fact that she respects me for who I am and never tries to change me.
38) Who is your real life hero and why?
39) Why do fools fall in love? ? Because there’s more to fools than meet the eye
40) When did you first know you wanted to be a writer? A loooong time ago
41) What significance, if any, is there in the title? A lot, at least, to me there is. I’m lousy at coming up with titles, so I have my partner help me with it. She’s better at it than I am.
42) Can you see the book as a feature film? It’s a film in my head.
BT (strongsouljah)...... 43) What vices or rituals, if any, do you have and how do they affect your writing? Once I’m on a roll, I don’t hear or see anything/anybody. There could be a Tornado in my backyard and I wouldn’t know it. I like being on a roll though. I think it makes the story more flowing.
44) Are you easily distracted by big breastesses????? No
45) Have you ever had a serious case of writer's block? Not yet
46) What’s your bra size??? The size that fits, because it’s more comfortable that way.
Tammy....I'm assuming I have the right idea (I think) maybe???? 1. What writer do you most compare yourself too or whom do you model yourself after? I don’t compare myself with anyone, really and I try (and hope) to develop my own style of writing. I still have a lot to learn though.
2. What writer influenced you the most? A Dutch writer, Thea Beckman. She was a real storytellers and keeps the reader transfixed until the end. She got me hooked on reading.
3. What is essential to you in your surroundings when you are writing? i.e.: music playing, incense, candles lit, food/drink, smoke pot??? Music, sometimes, to block out barking dogs and industrious lawnmowers. But most of the time I forget the world around me.
4. Is your aim when writing to keep it strictly as literature or do you have goals for screenplays/motion pictures? To me it’s a tale, nothing more, nothing less. I translate the pictures in my head into words and sentences, but I don’t have goals for screenplay or motion pictures. I’ still have so much to learn.
5. What is the best laid plan when writers block hits? I am very fortunate, I’ve never had writers block.
6. If you could interview/talk to any author (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
7. What are your other artistic interests? Photography, I used to write lyrics for my brothers’ band, I love building things with my hands, remodeling.
8. Are you easily distracted when writing? Not really, only when I’m really tired
9. Do you prefer to be alone when writing. No, as long as I can grab my laptop and sit in the corner somewhere to do my thing
10. Do you have a set time that you write (a.m. or p.m.) or when time permits? When time permits, yes
Tina Stratton..... 1) At what age did you start? At a young age. I’ve always made up stories
2) What is your best inspiration? Could be anything, really. I know that’s a vague answer, but it’s true. Inspiration is something that can hit me any time, in any situation, through any channel.
3) What is inspiration for you? Inspiration is the spark that makes a story come alive and fuels it when I’m writing. It’s that little magical thing that allows other people to live inside my head (without paying rent)
4) Where do you get your ideas? Anywhere.
5) Do they just pop up or do you hear something or see something and think.... hey that would work? They pop up inside my head and I let them live there and grow. When my head feels like it’s gonna burst, it’s time to write and get it out of my system. By that time, the ‘idea’ usually is a full-blown tale
ANNE.... 1) "What would you never ever ever write about?" to keep the link with the whole bard thing. Cricket
2) "If you had the to bring Xena back from the dead AGAIN, how would you do it?" Maybe I would let the ship Gabrielle is traveling on, get into trouble. The only way for Xena to save Gabby would be...hey, wait a minute, if Gabby would...pass on...they’d be together. Ummm...The easiest way would be to let it all be a dream, the whole ‘redemption of the many souls’ thing. Xena and Gabrielle wake up next to a dead campfire, both cranky because of the dream and PMS, ready to have a nice, passionate fight etc.etc....Now you know why I don’t write X&G stories. I suck at it LOL
3) "What's the most original way in which you ever killed a red shirt?" What red shirt are we talking about? A real piece of clothing? A Star Trek ensign? I never killed an ensign. And if I ever killed a red ‘piece of clothing’ shirt, it was probably because it shrunk.
4) "If you could any kind of vegetable, what would you be?"
Tap The Wizzard....
"Would you like to have dinner with me?" Depends what’s on the menu
NENE..... 1) One question would be where do they get the inspiration (for your stories) for all of that when writing a sex scene? I guess the same inspiration that creates the rest of the tale.
2) Ask them what made them first begin to write and not exactly how they felt about it, but what keeps them going? What made me begin to write is also what makes me going: I have this urge, almost a need, to write. If I don’t, I can’t really relax, the story keeps nagging me.
JLNICKY....USE THESE AT YOUR DISCRETION........ 1. Do you wear silk stockings? Do what? Nah, been there, done that, didn’t like them. 2. Do you prefer cucumbers to finger cookies? Depends on the time of day 3. Are you hooked up right now? Tied up? Twisted up? (All of which are becoming I might add) I’m hooked up to the internet, tied to my partner and I guess I do have a twisted mind 4. Do you prefer standard nipple clamps to those new ones that vibrate? I take the fifth 5. Were you the bartender or the Dancer? (A Shadylady story...) Definitely the Bartender 6. Do you own a Jag or a Honda? No, it’s a Ford actually 7. In your opinion is Popeye equivalent to Hercules? Does the myth/legend over lap...is that where Hercules came from....the Popeye Sailor? Of course! I’m appalled you didn’t know that. What DO they teach in school these days? Hercules is Popeye with a better hairdo 8. Is Hercules better than Sampson? You know...Delilah's Sampson? Who says they’ re not the same person? Which links both to them to...yes, Popeye 9. What is your bra size? Size that fits 10. What’s your favorite color? Green 11. Ever used any of those lil ole accents in ya'lls lil ole stories? Nope 12. Here is a tame one...WHAT is your favorite Ice Cream Flavor? (There is more than 31 you know). Mango, Vanilla, 13. Have you ever gotten the shits from eating too much cheesecake? Nope 14. Have you ever had Wild Turkey AND Bourbon in the same night? If so, who held your head over the porcelain goddess? I can’t say I ever had those in the same night, but maybe I ‘ve forgotten about it, or just blocked it out. 15. Did you ever think there were people out in the world just as twisted as you? Have you ever met my family?
16. Who is YOUR favorite author? I knew that question would pop up somewhere. I don’t think I have one specific favorite author. I like Karin Kallmaker, Missy Good, Cameron Abbott, Nene Adams, sHaYcH, Blayne Cooper, Anne Azel and many others. 17. Do you ever think, by the far stretch of the imagination, there possibly, somewhere out there, could probably, maybe be people out in the world just as twisted as you? Like I said, have you ever met my family? 18. Boxers or briefs? Boxers 19. How do you (the writer) deal with the feedback you receive? I always try to reply to each and every e-mail I receive 20. Robin Alexander I'd ask...When do you finally feel comfortable turning your stories loose on the public. LOL it still makes me nervous when I post. I know. The first time I open my e-mail box after posting the first installment of a new story, my palms are sweaty and I’m actually nervous LOL I feel comfortable posting after my partner has checked the part for inconsistencies and other...weirdness, my proofreader has pointed out all the grammar goof ups and I have edited the whole thing and have read it all over again. Then I quickly post it, because I know that every time I re-read it, there’s something else I’ll change, or add.
