Wizz an Nancy.......

1.) How long have you been writing creative fiction?

About four years. I would write a short story here and there. I didn’t take it too seriously.

3.) What got you interested in Xena and writing fan fiction?

My girlfriend turned me on to the fanfic online. I was thrilled, I had no idea there were such stories available. After that, I started watching the first season of Xena on DVD. I always wondered what the big deal was until I started watching. And WOW is she hot. The attitude, the confidence, the…ahem, the whole package.

4.) How has Xena changed your life?

She’s something that one can strive to be in their everyday life. Courageous, kind, strong. It encouraged me to take a look at myself.

5.) What colors ur tooth brush?

Purple and blue

6.) If you could be any super hero who would you be and why?

Anyone with the power of invisibility. I’m such a voyeour. <g>

7.) Do you wipe with your right hand or left or do you use toilet paper

For some reason I seem to prefer toilet paper, huh, go figure.

8.) Why and when did you start writing?

I was bursting with harbored fantasies and finally decided to write them down.

9.) What’s ur bra size?

I would tell you but I would have to kill you.

10.) How do you have time to WRITE so many stories at once?

If I’ve got more than one going, I just work on whatever one my mind is on at that moment. As far as time goes, I don’t force myself. If I feel like writing and the moment is free, I go for it.

11.) How do you get your inspiration?

Music. Or just observing everyday life. I love to people watch. Also having a passionate, loving relationship helps.

12.) What kind of underoo’s do you wear?

Again, classified. lol

13.) How long have you been writing?

Four years.

14.) What story/series are you most proud of?

In Too Deep. (To be released in Sept 2005 by Bold Strokes Books) I really had a lot of fun creating Erin, Liz and Patricia. And it was a big learning experience for me. I learned a lot about myself.

15.) Do you get hate mail and how do you handle those?

Lol. I have quite a story actually. It wasn’t hate mail, no it was way too weird to be considered negative. I’ll sum it up by saying that the world is a very strange place with some very strange people.

16.) How about do you get any HATE mail from readers?

None yet. Everyone’s been really supportive and positive…and on rare occasion, strange.

17.) What’s the best piece of advice you got when you were starting out as a writer?

Just write it down and let it go. Don’t overanalyze it to death or second guess yourself. Easier said than done <g>.

18.) How do you lay out your stories?

I scribble it down on paper as it comes. And since I never know when an idea will come, I end up with pieces of notebook paper all over the house.

19.) Do you have an ending before you start writing, or does it reveal itself to you as you write?

Most of the time it reveals itself as I write. Also talking it out with someone helps.

20.) How do you get beyond just an idea?

I get excited by creating the new characters who, in turn, end up living the idea. It’s such a rush when an idea comes, I can’t get the words out fast enough.

21.) How does an idea become a story?

Again, letting your imagination go wild. Being creative, playing God in a sense. You call the shots, you create the people and their world.

22.) What suggestions do you have for creating self-discipline at writing?

My advice is to NOT LISTEN TO ME! I’m terrible at self discipline. I only write when I feel the urge to do so. Otherwise it comes out as strained and shallow, no feeling.

23.) Which story/series has gotten the most response from fans?

The In Too Deep series.

24.) Do you like to write X&G stories or uber/original stories better?

I enjoy writing originals. I tried writing a X&G but it wasn’t for me. I don’t think I did the characters justice.

25.) Do you envision a story before you write it, or does the story just un-fold as you write it?

Both…and it helps to talk it out with someone. But only someone you trust. (I’ve been given that advice more than once. Apparently there are some people out there who would gladly take your idea.)

26.) When you’ve finished with the story/book do you miss those characters that you’ve written about?

Absolutely. It feels like you’ve lost close friends.

27.) Do you or do you not wear underwear? If so what kind?

I wear it…

28.) If you could have dinner with anyone who would it be and why?

Steven Spielberg or M. Night Shyamalan. (I’m a huge movie fiend!) They are both extremely talented with their ability to bring such amazing stories to life. M.Night baffles me with his writing. I love his twists, the way he encourages me to look deeper into every scene. He plays with colors a lot, every single image means something to the story.

29.) Who is your favorite Xmen???

Wolverine and well I love anything Hugh Jackman is in. He rocks.

30.) Who is your favorite super hero of all times?...IE...batman, superman, wonder woman??

When I was a kid it was Wonder Woman, but Xena has more juevos. I love her confidence and strength.

31.) Years from now, how would you want to be remembered?

First and foremost for kindness and compassion. And then for my sense of humor. And if I’m truly lucky…for my words.

32.) What is your pet peeve?

Dirty fingernails,(and as an artist you can imagine how much I have to scrub my hands until I’m satisfied) dirty socks…anything dirty. Well, maybe not everything. <g>

33.) What advice can you give to future writers?

Just go for it. Let it out.

34.) What has the show Xena meant to you?

I’ve only seen the first season and I was extremely sexually frustrated. ( I know, boo, hiss) I just wanted them to get it on already! But I can definitely see how so many women followed the series like they did. Waiting, wanting. The innuendo was addictive.

35.) What are your dreams? Hopes? Wishes?

To be a huge, positive part of the lives of my nephews, as well as my God children. And to live peacefully in love, health and happiness.

36.) What is a necessity for every writer in your opinion?

Imagination and the urge to create, the urge to tell their story.

37.) What’s your favorite quote? Why and how does it affect you?

“Though this be madness, yet there is method in’t.” William Shakespeare, Hamlet.

“We all go a little mad sometimes.” Alfred Hitchcock, Norman Bates in Psycho.

People have many layers and many reasons for behaving like they do. Rarely is it the pure madness or chaos that we label it. And that absolutely fascinates me.

38.) What makes your best friend your best friend?

Unconditional love and support. And being able to laugh hysterically with each other.

39.) Who is your real life hero and why?

My Grandmother. She had a very hard life, worked hard, loved hard, and lived hard. And yet she’s the most thoughtful, understanding woman in the world. She would give anyone the shirt off her back. She lives simply and solely for the enjoyment of the people around her. She’s truly a beautiful human being.

40.) Why do fools fall in love?

Good question. Wish I had the answer! I think it’s completely uncontrollable and mystifying. Something we may never have the answer to.

41.) When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?

My sister informed me that I was thirteen when I declared it. I don’t remember it, but she even saved some of my first “romances”.

42.) What significance, if any, is there in the title?

I think the title does quite a bit. It sums up the book as well as gives the reader a little bit of insight. There’s nothing better than finishing a book and looking back and saying…”that’s why it’s titled like it is.”

43.) Can you see the book as a feature film?

I can always see the books I read as a movie. I love thinking about bringing it to life in a film!

BT (strongsouljah)......

44.) What vices or rituals, if any, do you have and how do they affect your writing?

Quiet, or inspiring music. My Jack Russel Terrier in my lap. She’s jealous of the computer and I can’t get any work done unless I let her in my lap.

45.) Are you easily distracted by big breastesses?????

Lol. Umm no. I’m more of an ass and leg girl myself.

46.) Have you ever had a serious case of writer’s block?

Yep.

47.) How do you get over it?

Well after I beat my head against the wall, I fell down, had a vision while unconscious and it showed me the way to continue. Seriously, I just had to stop thinking about it. Even if it took days.

48.) What’s your bra size???

Nope, can’t talk about it. Classified.

Tammy....I’m assuming I have the right idea (I think) maybe????

49.)  What writer do you most compare yourself too or whom do you model yourself after?

Wow, tough one. As far as modern writers I would say Radclyffe for the work she’s done in this genre. Reading her work not only helped me through bad times, but it encouraged me to write down my own fantasies. Mainstream, I would love to find the success Patricia Cornwell has had. Yeah, I know, I dream big in both cases. Lol.

50.) What writer influenced you the most?

I tend to like the darker side. A Jedi I am not. Lol. I love Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King, Jeanette Winterson, Patricia Cornwell etc.

51.)  What is essential to you in your surroundings when you are writing? i.e.: music playing, incense, candles lit, food/drink, smoke pot???

Sometimes music, a clove candle, and diet mountain dew. Of course that’s an ideal setting. In reality the dogs are fighting over a chewy, our two daughters are fighting over some video game and our five year old son is belting out “if I was a rich girl” in the bath tub. (yes we start to worry when he waves his arms in the air while singing.)

52.) Is your aim when writing to keep it strictly as literature or do you have goals for screenplays/motion pictures?

God I wish! That truly would be a dream come true.

53.) What is the best laid plan when writers block hits?

Walk away. It works. Don’t think about it for days.

54.) If you could interview/talk to any author (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

Edgar Allen Poe. Because he wrote on the edge. And well, he seemed like a VERY interesting character.

55.) What are your other artistic interests? I love to draw and sculpt.

Anything I can create with my hands is fair game. I also love photography and restoring furniture.

56.) Are you easily distracted when writing?

No. I tend to get in a zone and everything around me becomes a fog.

57.) Do you prefer to be alone when writing. Mostly.

It’s difficult to write a love scene when the kids are dancing around doing skits from Austin Powers or some other crazy movie they’ve memorized.

58.) Do you have a set time that you write (a.m. or p.m.) or when time permits?

Night time.

Tina Stratton.....

59.) At what age did you start writing?

25

60.) What is your best inspiration?

The everyday person, wondering what their life is like, what makes them tick. Truth is stranger than fiction.

61.) What is inspiration for you?

People, music. Overcoming great negativity in life. The fight to survive.

62.) Where do you get your ideas?

Just living life or listening to music.

63.)Do they just pop up or do you hear something or see something and think.... hey that would work?

All of the above.

ANNE....

64.) “What would you never ever ever write about?” to keep the link with the whole bard thing.

My girlfriend…she’s very special and so is what we have. I don’t think I would enjoy sharing that.

65.) “What’s the most original way in which you ever killed a red shirt?”

Mine always seem to get shot.

66.) “If you could any kind of vegetable, what would you be?”

A tomato, red and juicy. Or is that technically a fruit?

Tap The Wizard....

67.) “Would you like to have dinner with me?”

Sure, but come to Arizona, it’s warmer here. <g> I’ll make the margaritas.

A. Hawk.....

68.) One question would be where do they get the inspiration (for your stories) for all of that when writing a sex scene?

Fantasy…and oh can I conjure up some.<g>.  It’s whatever you want.

69.) Ask them what made them first begin to write and not exactly how they felt about it, but what keeps them going?

The high of creativity keeps me going. It really is like a drug.

JLNICKY....USE THESE AT YOUR DISCRETION........

70.)   Do you wear silk stockings?

Um, no. But I certainly like to look at those who do.

71.)   Do you prefer cucumbers to finger cookies?

I like cucumbers

72.)   Are you hooked up right now?  Tied up?  Twisted up?

(All of which are becoming I might add) Ummm, noooo. But I am happily taken.

73.)   Do you prefer standard nipple clamps to those new ones that vibrate?

Thanks for the info. I will have to check out those new ones. What will they think of next??

74.)   Do you own a Jag or a Honda?

Jag, I wish. But nope, not a Honda either. I get around on my unicycle and haul the kids around in the Dodge Durango.

75.)   In your opinion is Popeye equivalent to Hercules?

Does the myth/legend over lap...is that where Hercules came from....the Popeye Sailor?

76.) What’s your favorite color?

Midnight blue

77.) Ever used any of those lil ole accents in ya’lls lil ole stories?

Yessireebob

78.) Here is a tame one...WHAT is your favorite Ice Cream Flavor?  (There is more than 31 you know).

Hmmm…cookies and cream.

79.) Have you ever gotten the shits from eating too much cheesecake?

You scare me nicky..lol.

80.) Have you ever had Wild Turkey AND Bourbon in the same night?  If so, who held your head over the porcelain goddess?

Nope. Rum does me in.

81.) Do you ever think, by the far stretch of the imagination, there possibly, somewhere out there, could probably, maybe be people out in the world just as twisted as you?

Not until now. <g>   Now I’m really convinced there is.

82.) Who is YOUR favorite author?

I have many faves. I love the Madame President series by Blayne Cooper and T. Novan. I’ve reread them numerous times.

83.) Boxers or briefs?

briefs

84.) How do you (the writer) deal with the feedback you receive?

I value it greatly. And answer it with sincere thanks.

I like the mystery/romance

86.) The genre that you read most in?

True crime/thrillers or mystery/romance

87.) Have you ever written outside your comfort zone?

I’m starting to, I’m getting braver.

88.) Were you happy with the result?

So far.

DJ.....

89.) Do they write spontaneously or plot the story out in intricate detail before writing?

Both. I just sit and write and when I’m not I make notes as the ideas come.

90.) How much of the bard’s own personal life experiences and worldview enter their characters and story?

I would say it plays a big part. Even if you don’t write down an experience word for word, you can spin off of it.

91.) When one gets ‘stuck’ on a storyline, how does one get out of the rut?

Heavy drinking and dancing. lol

92.) What got them started writing fiction?

Expressing my fantasies.

93.) When they write, are they moved by what they create, or do they view it dispassionately?

I’m usually moved but then I fight the urge to freak when it comes time for others to read it.

94.) Is there a particular time of day or environment in which they feel most creative?

Late at night or just waking from a dream

95.) Is (are) there a particular work of fiction which had a profound impact upon them as a youngster?  Whom do they particularly admire?

Absolutely…I used to sneak and read my grandmothers “trashy romance” books at age eleven. I couldn’t get enough! And I‘m sure in some warped “pirate slave” way that influenced me. Right now I admire all writers, I love Jeanette Winterson. She pushes me beyond the comfort zone and really forces me to think.

96.) How crazy or unrestrained do they allow themselves to get when writing? Do they discipline themselves, or just ‘let go’?

I just let it go now.

97.) Is there a particular piece of work that they cringe at having posted, or had totally bomb (often, much to their surprise)?

I used to cringe and harbor some anxiety, but now I try really hard not to. JUST LET IT GO. Or as Dory says in Finding Nemo “just keep swimming, just keep swimming.” (Yeah, I need a night out.)

98.) Is there anything that they’d never write?

A love story involving a man as one of the main characters. lol

99.) Have they written a story that got an unexpected response from readers either for good or, er, bad?

In Too Deep. I was surprised at the interest and encouragement to keep going. It was great.

SHERI...BON BON AKA...Ri The Bard

100.) When you write do you go with the flow or do you have it
outlined?

Both. Whichever comes to my brain at any given time.

101.) This one is for Wizzy imagination, what do you wear when you’re working

Lol. Flannel sleep pants and a wife beater.

110.)  Favorite comfort food? Chocolate, or my fave…

key lime pie

Hope that helps or at least made you smile.

It did, thanks!

111.) What does being published mean to you?

Wow. Yeah, I still say it and shake my head in disbelief. Amazing. And the whole experience has been surreal. Bold Strokes has been very kind and supportive. I still can’t believe I’m working with Radclyffe. Two years ago, I was curled up in a hospital bed reading her work and I never would’ve imagined I would be where I am today.

112.) What do you expect to receive from the process?

Valuable knowledge and insight. And hopefully to be able to reach more people out there. To touch their lives in some way. Lesbian fiction has seen me through some pretty tough times. We need to support and help each other, to keep getting our words out there. When I pick up one of these books, I know that I’m not alone in the world. That there are other women out there, feeling like I do, living like I do, dreaming like I do.

120.) Do you put a little bit of yourself in each story something that might of happen in your life to you?

Sure. Absolutely.

121.) What stories do you like to read? Online?

Anything interesting and full of intense, harbored attraction. There are a lot of talented bards out there.

122.) What shows do you like and who is your favorite stars?

Queer as Folk, I miss Sex and the City, Cold Case Files, anything on A&E or Court T.V.

I like Ewan McGregor, Edward Norton, Juaoquin Phoenix. Women..hmm there just hasn’t been anyone since Linda Fiorentino in Jade, The Last Seduction and Men in Black. Oh, I like the woman in Law and Order S.V.U, I don’t know her name. The brunette.

123.) What are you writing on now?

I’m working on two new novels

124.) Do you have any stories published or hope to get any published?

Caring, funny, intense, romantic, creative.

126.) If some one asked you a question on how they could get stated writing what would you tell them?

Just start creating characters. To me that’s the best part.

I hoped this helped and is the kind of questions you wanted.....Mullaney

Debbie Dee

130.) If so what kind of pets do they have?

There isn’t enough room to mention them all.<g> 3 Dogs, a wayward cat, 2 birds, 2 leopard geckos, numerous fish and a partridge in a pear tree.

Jude...Beta reader for the SB101

131.) Author’s of a story wants feed back but 5 out of 10 never bother’s to write u back. Why?

I always write back. Those who don’t should.

132.) Why don’t folks finish their stories?

Maybe they’re stuck, not encouraged enough or haven’t found the time.

133.) Say someone has an idea for a story but they can’t write worth a damned would one of you writer’s consider writing it, where u get the credit for the writing but give credit to the person who sent u the idea?

That’s a touchy subject. I’m actually paranoid about using someone else’s idea. No matter how much thanks or credit you give, sometimes it’s not enough.

DOT....

Feedback is vital. I love to hear from readers, knowing that it touched them in some way.

137.) How do you handle it when a reader asks why you used
a certain plot device?

I don’t think I’ve ever had that question.

138.) What is the primary reason you post stories to the internet?

To see if what I write touches someone other than me. It’s nice to share, I know my girlfriend and I have read dozens of stories online that we wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else.

139.  Have you ever thought about writing outside your
comfort zone?  If so what?

I have recently, it’s a work in progress.

KODA GRAYSTONE

140.) I’d ask...When do you finally feel comfortable turning your stories loose on the public. LOL it still makes me nervous when I post.

God me too! I stress it big time even though I try not to.

And now for a special treat, in Ronica's own words, the story of how In Too Deep came to be:

In Too Deep  by Ronica Black

Wizzy,

I’m finally dragging from several days with little sleep. It’s finally hitting me, so you’ve been forewarned. You asked for some info on the book, I hope you don’t regret it. Lol.

Caution: what follows is choppy, extremely poorly written, and well, straight from my exhausted mind to the keyboard.

In Too Deep.

Boy where to start. I think many different aspects of my life played into the development of this story. I was starting a new relationship, having some issues with my health, and basically at a crossroads. I didn’t know what was going to happen or where i was headed. All of these issues led to different ideas and played different roles in the story.

I can remember first thinking up the idea of Elizabeth Adams. I tend to think a lot when I’m driving and listening to music. And I was rocking out to Rob Zombie and feeling a little high from spending an evening with my new girlfriend. This was about four years ago, and we all know how the magic of new love can leave one feeling...well almost giddy.

So I was daydreaming. And trying my damnedest to figure out why she (my g/f) was so enthralled with Xena??  I had never seen the show and I can remember being a little worried about her sanity. With that in mind, I thought, hmmm....what do I think is hot?

And wham. There it was. An image of Liz Adams dressed in black, walking down the steps to her nightclub. All sex and self-confidence. From there it was like a drug. I would sit and write in binges and then back off, exhausted. A few days later, I would get withdrawals and sit back down to do more. Every time I sat down, more came. I didn’t know my mind could work like that.

I had the book half done when one of the kids asked to use my laptop to play The Sims.   The cd, I don’t know, just froze everything, screwed up the laptop completely and totally. I didn’t have the story backed up on floppy and I lost it all. Talk about a lesson learned the hard way. Back up your work!

What a nightmare. But my g/f had faith in the story and she continued to encourage me until I caved and starting re-writing. This was about the time I started posting online. I had received some positive feedback on my short stories, and I needed to know if this one was worth it. The readers I heard from were hooked and that kept me going. Around this time I lost a family member. And I was crushed. I stopped writing, and ended the story, unmotivated, lost.

This was the time I received the most email. Most of it from angry readers upset that I had stopped. And then I had some from people encouraging me in nicer ways. I really was surprised at the volume of mail. More people had been reading it than I thought. This is a perfect example as to why feedback to an author is so important. I never would’ve continued without it.

So, winding down. This story means so much to me. It’s my first lengthy work and I swear more than once I thought it just wasn’t meant to be finished. But here we are now. It’s finally finished and by nothing short of a miracle, it’s going to be published.

And I have to give my many and profound thanks to the readers and fellow writers who patted me on the back when I needed it most. And most especially to my g/f, who insisted I keep at it. Who believed in me from the start.

Thank you.

Ronica Black
